Just been chatting to a friend of mine on MSN. He's been making music for years and has finally got round to putting some tracks online. His Myspace profile only came online this evening, so this is hot off the press.
His Myspace Direct download 3 track EP (MP3s)
It's good stuff, some of you guys might like it. All made on old analogue synths/drum machine, sort of electro type sounds.
"All tracks recorded 1995-2008. Equipment used: Roland TR 606 Drumatix, Roland SH101, Roland JX3P, various old effects pedals."

Unfortunately I'd been revisiting Ulrike Jokiel (again) and, sadly, this suffers in comparison. It's good, but not mindblowing. Thanks also.

Yep, quite different to Jokiel stuff and not quite as "out there". It's interesting as they use similar equipment. I'm enjoying both :)

I like this a lot :) It's neat, fresh and fun, but indeed nothing ultra special. Just fun neat tunes

Cool - glad you like it. I think that's the point. Nothing genre-defining, nothing that reinvents the wheel, but some good solid analogue electro.

I keep coming back to "Lapine" and "C Mafia" (for the chords and overal composition of the bassline in cooperation with the chords), Carrot Juice is quite crap imo

Ah! I think Carrot Juice might be my fave, actually. Quite dark and I like the beats.

the bassline starts out as uninspired, but stays that way aswell, so i get bored pretty quickly. I see where he was trying to go with this tune, but it needs just way more... But alas, his gear list isn't that big :)

May i note that, when listening back to this EP, i am very curious to what he can do more. I've added him on myspace, and am expecting loads of quality analoggy neato tunes :D

Cool - I shall let him know! He's got loads and loads of tracks and is only now getting them into the "digital domain". I think he's planning on uploading quite a lot of stuff in the coming months.

Ugh. It all sounded so uninspired. I wish I hadn't clicked on the link. Its not a problem of the kit list as someone else seemed to insinuate, you can make great music with crap gear (and he has a couple really nice pieces of equipment).
Its more a problem that he sounds like all he listens to is boring music. If he keeps it up, he could make a career out of making some professional sounding but entirely uninteresting crap.
