I'm actually really excited to play this. The past few years of retro revival has been really lame, but MM9 for some reason doesn't seem to fall into that category for me. I think it's going to actually be really fun !
The cover is perfect, and they say a lot of guys that worked on the original contributed to this one.
We will see I guess !

I'm excited, it's like there's been no advance in gameplay standards since 1987!
Eat a dick, Capcom.

But surely you have to love it because it's 'retro'
You're right really, Capcom truely do need to eat a dick indeed.

This is the 9th in the series, and the first since 2 that lacks the charge shot and slide mechanics. But if you pony up more cash next week, you'll be able to do them! Hurrah!

I didn't know there was no charge shot. It's a really annoying move and it hurts my thumb, so that's actually some kind of improvement in a way. I hope the ennemies stopped staying in place taking a million shots too.
I'm not saying it couldn't be a good game. Mega Man has always been kind of there doing its thing without ever trying to progress. It's average but it's cute. What gets me is the facile, crowd-pleasing retro attitude. It's kind of reactionary and scary.

MM9 is pretty hard for an MM game. A lot harder than MM2, which is the usual yardstick by which MM games are judged.

like most other mega man games, it definitely is a relentless bitch, but it does get easier once you get a used to it. i spent ages on the wily stages first time round, and managed to ace through them last night without much trouble.

The stages are quite frustrating, especially Dr Wiley's Castle, but damn the bossfights are easy-peasy. What happened?
