The Strokes live

Last night i saw the strokes live in cambridge, and had a
rather phat time. We all got in at 4pm and got totally
squiffy thanks to some nice new skunk purchased and then
waltzed into the gig, a wee bit merry for one of the best
and most intense gigs ever.

The first band that played i think were called
longview/longway who were tres bien. Sort of a more serious
flamming lips, and a bit of my vitriol in there too.

The second support band were called Stereo total, this mad
french duo. Almost an electronic mouldy peaches, a mad blend
of dance, rock, electronic and then all put into one.

Then after a huge wait (45min+) the restless and packed
crowd (note very smelly at this point) final got thier
demands. With this a huge surge, knocking the wind out of a
load of 12 year old mosh virgins. The entire venue wanted to
be a the front, squeezing everyone up to the rail and making
this one of the most intense gigs ever.

The band themselves were on top form. Most from the album,
along with a healthy number of new songs dispelling fears
about lack of material. The band put everything in with the
trademark drunken sluring of lead man Julian Casablancas.

Overall, great gig, great night. Sorry if this seems a
little out of place in an aphex twin message board.

i like what i've heard of the Strokes, dont worry about
posting about them. Most of us on here have a wide range of
musical tastes.

they need to exist

It's retro remakes but it's got more life than most
manufactured shit that is being released at the moment.

i agree with jivverdicker..i think it's good that a band
like them is alive and doing well in the mainstream, it's a
needed change that comes once in awhile

I like 'em. They're just good old fun. Nothing too serious
and nothing original. But definitly a good shot in the arm
of mainstream music.

hehhe, it's sad, cuz shakira used to be a lot more
respectful, the crossover to english is a bit silly though

Shakira is cool because of her ass and her belly dancing +
her pussy isn't like a wizards sleeve.

Nikelback are just shit

The cure + depeche mode are the shit, both from Essex
England. Aphex asked Mute if he could have the Masters for
'Speak & Spell' so he could do some mixes...

THE STROKES are a pretty bloody good band, you should also
check the band "White Stripes" if you have the time.

The white stripes are amazing. Though I wouldn't mind a bit
of an evolution in their sound. I have 3 CD's by them and
they are all the same. As long as they don't pull an AC/DC
and release the same album over 20 discs (or however many
they've made)

exchange was a very crowded and smokey place, and the bar
served me despite being 16! nice.
