Yeah, I started that topic about Zeiss Contarex, that is one
SEXY track!!!

I'm actually listening to Confield right now, on Pen Expers.
I have the volume up to the max, and I'm sure the neighbours
can hear it loud and clear... it's a wonder I don't get
arrested.

TOTALLY BLOW HIS MIND!!!!!! :)

Eh, careful with that Autechre... may not blow his mind...
didn't blow MY mind when I heard them at first, I was
underwhelmed... those guys take some getting used to! But
when you DO get used to them, they blow your mind every time
you hear them. :-)

and sure it's not as freaky as some of their newer stuff,
but Incunabula is a gem of an album... very good for what it
is, nice old school ambient techno...

Yesterday I tried again to listen ep7... but nothing... I
don't like it much.
It has the similiar style of Confield but it isn't so deep
and fascinating, imo.

I think Confield has much more melodies than ep7, and it's
more brilliant.

Does anyone else think that the bouns track on the Jap.
version was kinda a BAD pick for a closing track?

a japanese mate told me that they stick extra tracks on cd's

intended to be there.

to totally understand it. ok..ya my fav. album right now

Ep8

i do agree that confiels is a great peice of work..however,
i felt when i listened to it that had an unknown artist made
this album it would never had been released.
for me, ep7 is their finist work

i'm signing my name up for this as well. it took me a few
weeks of intense listening just to get my head around most
of the content on the record. it's my favourite ae album, no
doubt. it's amazing how they can put so much detail into a
couple of minutes of music. every time i listen to it, i
uncover new sounds and soundscapes, and it's terrifyingly
beautiful to listen to. it sounds so mechanical and digital
at first, but after a while, i sort of recognised some
sounds or parts as sounds and stuff that is all around you
everyday. much of it sort of sounds like a decomposing
computer of some sort, that in the end just runs wild, and
short circuits. confield is the soundtrack to the time just
before everything hits the fan, and the blackout occurs.

damn...i'm getting a tear in my eye just to think about it.
i better put it on right away.

great album, Confield!

Vi Scose Poise : there is a big rusty machine in a
disaffected factory, and this machine is forgotten and
lonely... no one ever comes in there, but there are grates
on the ceiling of the factory, and suddenly a rain of
sunshine comes through the grates, on the lonely machine,
and the machine has now found a companion, they fall in love
together and it is beautiful, they both play music together
and it is beautiful! : )

it is my favorite track. second favorite is Eidetic Casein
(no images for this one though), third is Uviol (a beautiful
purple starry night, on a planet only occupied by robots).

the only tracks i like less are Bine (but i think it will
grow on me, sounds like a grower), and Lentic Catachresis
which i found deceiving because it sounded like a
regression, like Ae tried to make a track like back in their
middle lp5 period, unlike the rest of Confield which was a
beautiful step forward...

i have been listening to confield solid for the last few
days. it's beautiful.
one thing i have found is, even though i really enjoyed the
album before, after hearing draft 7.30, i can appreciate
confield even more.

it's not that draft 7.30 is more complex, i think confield
is the more technical of the two, but theres something about
the two albums together that sort of unlock each other or
something.
i read somewhere that confield is sort of a blueprint for
draft 7.30, but i think it works both ways

"CONFIELD IS A PILE OF NON-MUSICAL RUBBISH!"

...at least that's what I thought the very first time I
heard it ;). The second time it already was a lot better for
me than the first time. You have to have the patience to
listen to all the tracks in their entirety and they require
the listener to be concentrated and, very important, willing
to recognize the beauty and genius of this work. Confield is
now nr. 2 in my list of best ae albums, with Amber on top.

All tracks have their own distinct beauty. First there is VI
Scose Poise, a very surprisingly soothing track for this
album with an ambient melody causing even my grandfather to
piss hiss pants.
Pen Expers, with its lovely complicated neo-breakbeat. I
love the way the melody "breaks through".
Eidetic Casein keeps amazing me. The notes seem so off key
and irregular but in some way the melody stays in your head
and the true confield fans will still think it's beautiful
(so do I).
Then there's Uviol, hypnotic ambient track with an excellent
soothing melody lying underneath.
Finally Uviol merges into Lentic Catachresis, probably the
best track on confield IMO. With this track, Sean and Rob
dig every last ounce of capacity out of their equipment.
It's as if they wanted their machines to do more than they
can handle. This tracks is frenzied and manic and ends with
30 seconds of the juiciest glitch I've ever heard. A better
closer to this album I cannot imagine.

....shit this is probably the longest post I've ever
written, but I felt I wanted to express my immense
appreciation for this masterpiece. :D

don't fear getting too long! : )

(just when you need more than one message and a half, maybe,
it is too long - i remember making a
two-posts-and-a-half-long message once, of course, no one
read ^^)

for me this is the best release not only of autechre, but of
any electronic musician ever
