Ae - Quadrange STEREO DIFFERENCE

Here's something I've been tapping more and more into
recently: Finding the stereo difference of various
recordings. Doing this stuff on IDM is great, there's stuff
in Autechre and Aphex tracks you never hear in the original
until you hear these. I just uploaded the stereo difference
of Quaristice.Quadrange.ep.ae so feel free to download. All of the files
are 160kbps .wma. More of these kind of things will be
coming soon (hopefully). Enjoy.

It's the only format I can save in SoundForge easily, sorry
:(

Good point, I do actually have that installed, I just never
use it.
Or I could just convert the files.
The only reason I never upload in .mp3 is cos Ovi won't
allow it. If you upload as mp3 it streams the files, it
won't let you guys download them. IMO .wma is more
accessible than .ogg, but say otherwise.

.wma and .ogg are crap.
If ovi is so retarded don't use it. from what I can gather
the interface is a load of bollocks anyway.

What's wrong with streaming these? Do you honestly think
anyone is interested enough to want to save these? Surely
they can compute the stereo difference themselves, after all
audacity is free....

There's not much else that'll let you upload as many files
as you want in one place for free with (what I believe is)
easy access though is there? If there is please tell me.

Many people can't be arsed to do things for themselves
unfortunately.

What is "stereo difference"? What can I expect to hear,
seeing as I'm on a connection that's like dial up only
slightly more frustrating?

rename to .txt and let the user save it; then the user just
renames to .mp3 when he gets home.

i guess it's everything but the mono sound, what's equal in
both channels

Yeah, it's pretty much what Big said, you subtract both
channels removing what is equally on both the left and the
right. What you're left with is whatever was panned. It's
pretty interesting this one, there's quite a lot of ambient,
droney stuff in there, with some crap. I wouldn't bother
downloading the Chenc9-1Dub one.

Elusive: I've thought about trying that and someday I'll
give it a go.

I'd imagine it'd affect Draft 7.30 quite strangely?

...Maybe I'll have to download that one in 320kbps or
higher. I've got the vinyl and can't be arsed to buy the CD,
it's the only Ae album that really hasn't clicked with me.

It just hasn't with me. I like some of the stuff on there
definitely, some of it's great... but as an album I just
don't feel it's got a very good flow. Definitely not as good
as Confield. Having said that, I'd still like to hear the 29
other versions of the album.

And it's 7.30 btw. :P

yeah fo sho'

...listening to the notwotwo-file I just hear a mono-version
of the ordinary track, no amazing revelation or "stuff you
never hear"...

i listened to this album with the sound turned down. so much
stuff i had never heard in this record before. it was mad.

yeah, Notwotwo or whatever is one of the few tracks that
really doesn't change much thru doing this. Check out the
Perlences and the 90101 or whatever it is.

haha, 90101-51-19 was weird!
