For the Ableton users:

My soundcard just went the way of the dodo and I've got a
gig tomorrow night. I need to get the best sound out of my
onboard output [1/4 inch headphone jack] Does anyone know of
any good [free] limiter plugins or any techniques so I can
have good loudness without peaking out in Ableton.

I know someone here can help me being the talented lot you
are.

Many thanks.

The venue should have a good enough PA for you to do your
thing without any compression. I usually use george youngs
w1 limiter but I don't let it compress unless I pass 0dB in
live wich I hardly ever do. here it is

Try talking to the sound technician before, be humble and
friendly and tell him about your wishes and I'm sure she or
he could help you out getting the sound you want.

this is a good free one:

otherwise use the l2 by wa ves (not free)

because cheap soundcards have little frequency response you
could experiment with kicking out everything above 16 khz or
something

Thank you! Unfortunately I forgot to mention it's for MAC.
:(

It just sounds so flat and lifeless. Has anyone set up some
good settings within Ableton without VST's.

Hold up can you use VST's for both MAC and PC, as in, do
they need to be written for a particular OS?
