once again, people speak without having ANY real knowledge on the subject.
the part about solar power and that, isn't the panels, or the land, etc.
it's GETTING THE POWER BACK TO WHERE IT IS NEEDED / USED.
distribution / transmission lines / power grids; that is the important and limiting factor, here.

jeez, do you think no one has thought of that ?
oh wait... (HVDC) is mentioned at the bottom.

High voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines are seen as the most efficient way to move electricity over long distances without incurring the losses experienced in alternating current (AC) power lines. HVDC cables can carry more power for the same thickness of cable compared with AC lines but are only suited to long distance transmission as they require expensive devices to convert the electricity, usually generated as AC, into DC. Modern HVDC cables can keep energy losses down to around 3% per 1,000km. HVDC can also be used to transfer electricity between different countries that might use AC at differing frequencies. HVDC cables can also be used to synchronise AC produced by renewable energy sources.

thats a great idea...to allow the public to pay for a personal solar panel instead of fossil fuel/nuclear electric.. we use electric everywhere super markets pubs ..etc ...so to buy your panel and place it in the best possition; in a desert would help fund the project too.
what we dont want is to pay for these panels and pay monthly like we do for electric and water and gas.. solar should be free once in place.
making it so very much a nice idea for many reasons ... some people are looking to profit from this, there always is. Cant we make this project a wonderful honest progression into a kind respectful world? the public should own the panels we pay for them!! hahaha im i missing something??! !

I saw something (honestly) about a spaceship/satelite thing that has a huge circular disc for catching solar rays. It inflates into a huge solar panel that's closer to the sun and sends the energy down somehow. I saw it on some kind of documentary 3-4 years ago. sounds good but strange.

yeah man via microwaves
i heard about a space elevator taking loads of panels up ...but something that inflates or unfolds woud be awesome.
microwaves are freaking dangerous tho...so they'd need to be sent to a substation miles out to sea or somting?!? but yeah take energy from space avoid the atmosphere.
hey !! one over the north pole cast a shadow to keep it cool! :P hahaa
if we humans can make 1.2 billion childrens malibu stacy dolls ...we can make solar panels.

I think solar cells arent efficient enough to buy off, its not cheap technology. It takes long time to buy off, and it is the only problem we have with this technology. I think no one wants to invest in such projects, when is another ways to get quick money.
There is another technology about witch i dont know much its "spherical solar cells".
