from what i can remember he was mostly self taught... i say
this cause he started playing at a young age, like 17 or
something...

A bit. Mozart taught him composition, Jimmy Page taught him
guitar, Jaco Pastorius taught him bass guitar, Béla Fleck
taught him the banjo, Charlie Parker taught him sax,
Thelonious Monk taught him piano with Buddy Rich teaching
him drums.
This was all done in "Cornwall School for the Gingerly
Challanged" between the years 1764 and 1984.

As far as I know he never took any formal music education.

aphex twin as you know him does not really exist.

you know the guy who performs as aphex twin live? the guy
with the long hair and beard who stares vacantly into a
laptop? well he's an actor.

aphex twin's music is created by a rotating crowd of
musicians, and some of them are: amon tobin, van morrison,
the musically gifted guy from ABBA, josh homme and
squarepusher.
