ive been browsing a lot of minimal techno lately. im sort
of getting my head around it to some extent, there is really
enjoyment to be found. these are the things i've been
checking out:

labels:
studio1
basic channel
rhythm & sound
cadenza
kompakt
dial
modern love

artists:
andy stott
maurizio
efdemin
pantha du prince
wolfgang voigt
luciano
rhythm & sound
vladislav delay
richard villalobos
matthew dear

am i missing something essential?

Richie Hawtin's label minus. And get the stuff Mika Vainio
done as
Ø on the Sahko label.

Not sure I'd class a good deal of your list as minimal
techno, a lot of it is more dub techno IMO. Still good stuff
mind you but when you hear, for example, Hawtin's DE9
Transitions mix then you'll notice the difference.

I entered a mix comp.
in the rules it stated, anything goes....but please don't
bore us to death with a 60 minute minimal techno set.

I don't know much about minimal techno, but one of my
favorites is Stewart Walker "Stabiles". I think it's on
Mille Plateaux.

Essential is Porter Ricks "Biokinetics". The last Chain
Reaction doesn't really break any new ground, but it gets
the job done anyhow. I think it's Shinichi Atobe
"Ship-Scope" and I listen to it quite a bit.

perhaps not really minimal or dubby, but laurent garnier's
latest "Panoramix" is a classic! awesome deep stuff for
dancefloors.

I would recommend:

monolake - Hong Kong; dubby minimal
kit clayton - lateral forces; dubby and really abstract
minimal
dettinger - intershop; minimal with really nice ambience
stewart walker & geoff white - discord; really crisp clean
minimal techno

villalobos - alachofa and salvador; both essential
hawtin - de9 transitions; absolutley essential

I only just discovered Shinichi Atobe, I've got
The Red Line on repeat like crazy. Clearly I need to go
through this thread closely and see what else I have been
missing.

chain reaction in general has a lot of hidden gems like this
btw, on 12 inches, singles, whatnot.

some chain reaction faves;

fluxion - multidirectional II early fluxion is really good, deep dub techno
stuff - especially his vibrant form II compilation from 2000
i think.

vladislav delay - huone -fuckin classic. starts out all retarded like
and then he gradually shows you his finesse 10/10.

pelon - no stunts (part 1) dont know shit about this actually, just one
single by someone somewhere. cool.

anyways, when we're on a minimal techno roll... just get
everything moritz von oswald (the founder of chain reaction)
put his hands on pre-2000. ie basic channel, maurizio, round
one, round two... etc. i've got a hard-on for that 90s lofi,
dissonant, noisy 4/4 minimal techno stuffs.

Hey, thanks for these. Even though I really like Basic
Channel, my knowledge of them is quite shallow and I've
never really explored "around" them that much, so yeah,
currently making my way through the Chain Reaction material
and not being disappointed. Cheers!
