I like this.

I've been hearing mostly shorter tracks on XLT lately. These
short tracks are charming and easily digestible but I'm
always wanting them to be longer nonetheless.

I'm not saying this necessarily needs to be longer, just
rambling.

I like the high-pitched tinny hi-hat sample and the rhythm
of the pads in the background.

Yeah i like the hats too, cos your (well at least
my!) consciousness forgets about em and then
remembers them again, giving it a nice trippy feel (for me
at any rate). When the end comes I can easily imagine it
bleeding into the start of another fairly similar track...
one which, in fact, I may just make right now while I eat my
delicious potato waffles!

:) thanks for listening hombre.

I'm working on Krush 2 right now! It's got a slightly
darker feel to it, but it's got a right phat beat going on
:D

OK, Krush 2 is done!

Nragzxer, glad you liked figs - I really like it too;
was experimenting in modal melodies :)

The hats unfortunately makes my tinnitus go crazy with
headphones, but other than that it's ok.

Have you tried adding some kind of acapella to it? Try the
Common - The Light acapella if you can find it.

Krush 2 was better IMO, but it could have some "harder"
sounds or something. Vocals would have to be some kind of
The Roots "through a megaphone" thing.

I had a look at that site which was linked to the other day,
with rap acapellas, but couldn't find anything I thought
would fit... a right bummer cos I'd love to hear some rap
over the 2nd one.... sorry about your tinnitus!

from the Prodigy.

Done, it's a nice little ditty. The drums could do with some
fattening up but that's just me.

: )

Yeah, they're a bit phatter in the second one (Krush 2)
which I prefer. Just promise you'll head-bopi

That's the one I listened to. I reckon a little fatter and
you'll be on to a winner.

I blame my sub-woofer speakers being busted for any lack of
phattiness ;)

that second one is lush, sounds like some dark-ish arab
thing though it could use harder drums to add certenty and
harshness to it... then again that's just my opinion of it,
but it's still lush ^^

Krusher 1 is merely ok to me... the hats man, they're like
ventolin- really, really hard to listen to.

Krusher 2 I fuckin' LOVE. Hip hop beats are so simple to
make but sound so gooood. The melody brings some heat too.
The BoC (or even closer- Freescha) sounding pads at 0:40
sort of cool it off for a second but it gets right back on
track. It's the type of thing you'd want to spit a hardcore
rap to. A rap about loading tech nines and kickin' down
doors... every verse would have to be an execution of a jury
member who found you guilty, or something. NOTHING soft in
that first 30 seconds.

hehe thanks! If you know any hardcore rappers, force
them at gunpoint to rap something for me ;)

Using my amazing new-found Ableton skills I have layered an
a capella rap by the great Talib Kweli over my track, using
Final Master to make it sound dutty... I think it sounds
great but I'm very biased of course!

See your quality level has just spiked significantly and it
is your first day using it! How do you like it?

It's been a day of peaks and troughs as I've battled with
it... but once I got my head around it in terms of
sequencing samples and when I figured out how to link my
keyboard to the MIDI automations, my appreciation jumped
significantly and I can see this being a wonderful
relationship ;)
