aphex does some concrete stuff he is very influenced by stockhausen and john cage. it is only really 4 tracks but mashed. i would be horribly inefficient as a real dj i worked on this w a one hair brush. my goal is to do a bunch of 1/4 mixes i can interchange (about 15 min ea.) i might do a few more monster mash style mixes and then try to play them out around halloween. |

I LOVE HALLOWEEN! halloween is really an american thing. Brits are shit about halloween. You can't even trick or treat. I buy a bunch of horror films n food and good weed for halloween. I also set up a shit hot treasure hunt spook house for my niece on halloween. Last year she had to carefully search the house for choclate decorated in spookiness before going down a slide made of materesses that went through a paper monsters mouth!!!!! Hey you are right you are good with melodies, leads, pads etc. Tell me how you get your synths sounding so liquid? There is a lot of glide/portamento, and you blend that really well with wah and other envelopes like that. Do you have a super sexy chain set up in reason for this? Give me all of your secrets! |

I dunno really it's just what i've done for years now. I use legato (?) style portamento which basically means the notes only slide when one joins with another, I pretty much always use sawtooth and start from there. Square is really more of a snes thing, i like megadrive. I make my melodies with a simple wave then fiddle with it cos i just get frustrated with patches or anything not fundamentally my own if you see what i mean. I do a lot of careful detuning n stuff to make things sound organic. The thing is I just work with what i've got. If i sat down in front of a new setup i'd probably be fucked! |
