Does anyone know how to make a nice FAT punchy 909 style snare using a 2 osc synth + noise or whatever else is needed. I can make a nice tr 808 but now I want PUNCHY. I don't know how to get that 'P' on the beginning of the wave for the PUNCH. PUNCH!!! FACKIN PUNCH!!!!!

What kind of sound are you trying to make, exactly? Link a sample.

Thanx boys. I managed it but not fully. I did it with noise and sine a few octaves down+quick snappy decay. The noise has just the tiniest bit of attack. The hard bit is getting the noise right, the osc i'm using dosn't provide very nice tones of noise. I finally did it was some harsh compression. Made that p i was looking for. If I wanted to do it properly I'd probably have to actually draw the wave. Instead of a gate snap or the slight bit of attack I think I'll have to draw a very tiny bit of sine shaped wotnot in there. I havn't ever drawn waves, so i'll give it a go in the future

Next time try layering a few synths on top of each other to give different stages of the drum hit.

Both of you are right. Today I'm using a tiny piece of an original 909 snare (the p bit) and using noise + waves over the top.

also, layer your synth snare with a real snare that way you can create nice punchy and more original snares.

But I can't just use the sample. Where's the flexibility! I want to be able to make any kind of snare in THE WORLD with waves. This would make me god!!! A god that can make snare sounds.....bit shit really. It would be better if I could breath plasma balls like the real God. I'd burn you all with zappy green shit forever in a dimension of unspeakble pain!!!!

I used the drums I made yesterday in an APHEX REMIX. Sounds fucking great. I'd tell you how I made that snare but then I'd have to kill you.....

Yeah, that's why synthesis is better. Get a Machinedrum.
