[spam] mastered album

OK; so here is the album I've been working on during the
past 2 years. In retrospect I do wish I had included some
other tracks, and removed a couple others, but all in all
I'm happy with it.

I just received my mastered copy today, and they did a hell
of a job mastering :)

Either way, this is my album, and I hope someone dl's/likes
it..

commons no commercial no derivative license.

I've just listened to "Red Winter Rhapsody" parts one and
two and three, and "When they Came" and "Eclipse". And I
must say: they were brilliant, especially the first Red
Winter Rhapsody. I'm going to spread this round, I know a
couple of Final Fantasy fans (obsessives, really) who'd love
those this stuff. It reminds me of good game music in
places, which is no bad thing - some game music is very
beautiful.

I'll listen to the rest and get back to you.

thanks pigster, big and cs2x!

cs2x, i dont mind at all anyone calling it game music, in
fact im very pleased because thanks to another xlt poster
ive been shown a lot of nice rpg music and so forth, and its
great to be compared to that stuff definitely.

sure i do have a dream of sounding like a true movie score,
but in the end maybe i need a real orchestra :P

as for my own critique i would say this album, while i
worked a lot on it, in some places it lacks the emotional
punch i would like it to have.
that was a bit of a learning process actually but now i know
more about what i want, so in that sense the album was a
good experience.

either way thanks for the comments and listens!

Is this all original score? The classical/orchestrated
stuff on here is all really good. Wormhole sounds a bit
Elfman-ish. The RW Rhapsody tracks sound like they could be
the soundtrack to a good movie (or game).

Then there's stuff like Alien Console, which is good and
reminds me of something maybe Coil or someone would do.
Black Sun 2 has the whimsical analog style. Aeons has a
nice space-pad thing going.

My only critique is that all these styles seem like they
want to sit in their own corner and play by themselves (not
without exception, but as an overall). It would be nice if
you could find a way for these ideas to shake hands a little
bit and get a cohesive theme going.

Venetian Snares did some stuff like this, but before that
there was an album called Pax Brittanica by Test Department
where they blend chamber and orchestral music with
experimental and industrial sounds. Have you heard it? I
certainly recommend it.

Also do you ever listen to any experimental classical music
like kronos quartet, glenn branca, john cage?

It really makes me think of something warm and nostalgic
(red winter stuff). Some game I used to play and
love.....Others have said that too. Is that what you were
going for cx?

thanks dude :D
yeah its all original, and yeah i have a tendency to create
stuff on a whim, which ties in with my reply to ampi max, i
basically create different stuff depending on my mood and
inspirations at the time.
i didnt really aim for anything in particular outside of my
"vision."

i dont listen to kronos or glenn branca, but john cage
sure.. im going to get some of that today though.

i've also not heard test department, but ill get that too.

thanks again for the comments though i appreciate it!

i also want to say that the original name for wormhole was
loony tunes, because we had already gotten the cover done
before i changed tracks.
wormhole was actually an electronic abstract thing i did
first.

sorry to spam up your thread cx (sorry) but i've had this
unfinnished track on my hands for ages. I've wanted someone
to redo it with the kind of classical sound you've managed
here, for a long time now.
sadness
If you can't be bothered then jus tell me it's nice and I'll
be more than happy. But please listen to it cos EVERYONE i
show it to jus nods and moves on. I need to know if I should
bother making tunes like this anymore really.
Much love ampimax :).
(still loving winter rhapsody. are you still using the same
software as your other tracks)

I'm curious, what tempo is "aeons" in? I'm doing some
fiddling around with a late-nite-drive/teach kind of twist
on it.

I remixed it a few days ago, But i cut up the samples
instead of timing it all just right. It might of been around
80bpm. Probably lower. Nice fucking track innit

Indeed. I have it on 150 and for some reasons its working
out very well! I am going to put the original on repeat
tonight and dream about futuristic transportation methods.

i remember you spammed this before
is it me or did the mastering make it sound more real?
it now sounds like a real orchestra, although one that could
use some Jalapeños up their ass, for my taste that is

maybe you have to make a choice to either make
classical that sounds like the romantic period, with all
firery emotions
or classcial that sounds modern and minimal with emotions

that's the feeling i got listening quickly through you
release

the problem is, when you start going a bit nuts with the
instruments, they tend to sound plastic real quick.
i many times have to create melodies that dont sound
plastic.

im still very early in the period of figuring out how i can
go nuttier with the composition while still making it sound
a bit organic.

cs2x im listening to on the transmigration of souls now and
i must say its awesome.

Nah I was talking about your original. Every time I listen
to my remix it feels far too flat. I really like the bass
but the drums are too high in the mix. Everything sounds
like paper to me. The original is better. Will you make
anything else with those bladerunner style pads again or
have you moved to the more classical sound for a while?
