Okay, I live under a rock...and somehow i managed to
stumble on wireless internet a few years back and loved it.
I've been poking around and read that the people involved
with this have gone on to release under a ton of different
names. Can anyone suggest required listening...or a decent
article or something to read up on all of this great music??

Gerald Donald = Arpanet = Dopplereffekt = Der Zyklus = Glass
Domain.

Donald was also part of Drexciya along with James Stinson,
who was Elecktroids and Lab Rat XL AFAIK

just get anything from the james stinson and/or donald
gerald lineage and you're good to go.

dopplereffekt, drexciya, arpanet, japanese telecom,
elecktroids, l.a.m., transllusion, lab rat xl, the other
people place, abstract thought, shifted phases, glass
domain, heinrich mueller...

don't buy on itunes store unless it's itunes "plus"
itunes = 128kbps encoding, quality sucks
itunes plus = 256 kbps good enough but not the best like 320
kbps on bleep or beatport, traxsource...
to be sure it's itunes plus, note the + sign next to the
track price, and itunes plus written next to the album
picture.

a 128 aac sounds really good for it's size actually, and is
equivalent to a 192 or thereabouts, and those 256 itunes
plus tracks are probably indistinguishable from 320 mp3s

but ofcourse, you can get wavs off beatport and that's what
matters

offline najem from Niue on 2008-07-11 05:59 [#02221032]

right, but you don't have to be a sound engineer to notice
how different 128 and 256 kbps are. It's obvious no matter
how good the mastering is. and i don't want to talk about
how each and everyone might or might not hear the difference
between 256, 320, wav, flac blablabla. Itunes sells for the
same price two levels of quality: one mediocre, the other
good. It's only a hint for those who might want to
appreciate the quality of lab rat xl's excellent album.
This album is sold at the lowest quality on craptunes. And
at the best on other sites more concerned about quality
listening, which is what matters. Not nerdy trolling.
