Hardware Driver help

I just upgraded an old computer shell. Got a new 200 GB
hard drive and a Gig of memory. But I noticed none of the
audio hardware drivers are installed. Here's a list of the
hardware without drivers, has a little yellow questionmark
beside each:

PCI Simple Communications Controller
Video Controller (VGA Complatible)
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller

Any idea what drivers I might need and where I can get them,
to make my sound work?

Oomph ! I think I found it on the HP website, never mind,
and thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. :D

Ugh, now it is saying I cannot complete installation of the
drivers because I am not a "Computer administrator", which
yes, I am, last time I checked. I have the only user account
on this, password and all, and I log into every time I turn
this machine on.

Any suggestions?

what operating system are you using?

Windows XP Professional on an HP Pavillion a610n desktop PC,
with a newly installed hard drive (only hard drive, no
slaves or anything). There are audio jacks and USB in the
front as well as the back, and when I go to the volume icon
at th bottom of the screen, sound input and output has no
devices and I can't choose any devices either. Thats how I
found out the drivers weren't installed.

I had a similar problem installing drivers a while ago. I
only have one user on my computer, but Windowz said I wasn't
Admin.

I figured out a way to solve it. Restart your computer in
safe mode. Then you can choose Administrator as user, and
(hopefully) install.

*and you can (hopefully) install.

I just tried that actually, logged in on the Admin, and
still, it starts the opening/extraction of the drivers and
the same "You must be logged in as an Administrator" error
message pops up. I'm at a loss. :[

Hmm. Maybe this will resolve it.

I am not sure exactly what to do one I type in the first
part on step 2 and hit enter.

It opens a window titled Automating Security Configuration
Management, and it just looks like a bunch of help indexes
with nothing to really do.

You type in exactly what says in step 2 ('secedit /configure
/cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb
/verbose') in the window that pops up (cmd.exe).

If you run 'cmd', it should open Command (cmd.exe).

If not, do a Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Command and
type it in there.

I think I discovered the problem. Haha, and its simple as
fucccccck. Through moving the CPU around downstairs so much
and fiddling with installing the new HD, I think the sound
card came disconnected. Haha, so I will make sure that is
plugged in later, and it should have default drivers.

Sound devices/hardware connected okay. Still can't select
anything from the input/output in the Audio Control window.
Still can't install drivers. I also looked for the Compaq or
HP Restore application and I can't find it anywhere on this
computer.
