What is music to you?

Certain aspects in music have always attracted me. What
three elements do you want in music?

I find (in no specified order):

1. Intensity
2. Spontaneity
3. Awe

In almost every cd I've bought, the stuff I enjoy listen to,
and give my praises to, I find that these are the three
key-elements, that have always made me cry "hallelujah"!

Gamelan, jazz, jazz-fusion, some rock, techno, idm,
braindance, some blues ... almost everything I enjoy has
these three elements.

What's your three (at least one) favorites in music, and a
short description as to why, to provide some substance.
You're free to choose whatever you want. Go!

Glad to see you mentioning Gamelan.

I would mention Freshness as well - something new blowing
away the stale cobwebs of your previous musical experiences.

Good choices! Feeling, freshness, creativity. Heck, it even
sounds good by saying it.

marlowe: yes, there's something very magical about tuned
bells from Indonesia. I'd like to add Bulgarian women's
choirs, and obviously some classical works, as well.

Music for me allows me to drift into another world.
A world where I'm happy and I forget about earthly problems.
A drug in other words.

Taste, by far. I like to lick every record or CD I buy
before I play it to get a good idea of what it will feel and
sound like. I look for that pungent, yet crisp, cool flavor
found in the best, most ripe recordings produced. If I like
the way my tounge tingles, its sure to be an instant
favorite and everyday ingestion.
