Hello guys. For those who have been to any 08 live show for
AE, do you know their stance on live recording? The show I'm
going to says their policy depends on the performer and I
like to know if they give a shit or not.

i don't think they give a shit. in fact, they download their
own live shows themselves.

...but it's weird that no proper recordings has surfaced yet
- in 2005 there were a lot by this time in the tour!

they support the circulation of bootlegs and stuff. They do
not mind if you record them and share it.

Avart is right, there is a mysterious lack of live
recordings this tour... has anyone heard or seen anything
besides 1 min clips on youtube that suck?

there is a heavily distorted one -
autechre_2008-03-13_postgarage.mp3 (54 min) - nothings that
even comes close to those from 2005 though...

Avart, in 2005 the only recordings that had surfaced around
this time period (about 1 month proper they started their
tour) was not so great audience recordings. By this time
there was i think at least one audience recording that while
it wasnt spectacular quality wasn;t distorted and you could
make out most of the set. I remember listening to it on my
ipod for weeks before i saw them out here in SF and when i
eventually saw them being vey excited about hearing the set
for the first time in high quality. About 1 month or maybe a
little less after that a soundboard recording surfaced from
Glasgow.

I got several of the 05' audience rec's just a few days
after the performances from what I can recall - I remember
the weird feeling that they were just a few days old
recordings...?

(you know, I have never seen them live, I live in sweden
were they haven't played so far so those rec's are probably
as "live" they will get for me :/ )

...but I guess we'll just have too wait then, something
gotta turn up one day...

I'll be at the Chicago show. I wonder if Virginpusher and
Cygnus are showing up too...

If everything goes well, I should have a good quality
recording up by the 14th.

I doubt they particularly encourage it given how much they
bitch about sound quality. The average joe will get a
really shitty sound from a minidisc recorder or something,
which I doubt Ae would appreciate. The decently recorded
stuff from genuine rigs may not turn up for a while, if ever
as these will normally be traded between tapers first and
foremost until someone torrents one.

I would prefer a live recording with crowd noise anyway as
their rigs are designed to match the room acoustics. I've
heard sound board recordings before. I'm not a fan.
