Alva Noto's Xerrox used in tv show

I was flipping channels and came across a show
that had the track '07 - Haliod Xerrox Copy 6' playing
throughout it, but without the static. This track didn't
just sound like it, it was it. Made the episode about
whatever seem deeply meaningful.

that's awesome. on the flip side, lols @ alva noto for
selling out :)

also, wouldn't volume >1< suggest there's more to come?

I was only able to see the credits role once, and there was
no mention of alva noto, just the music composer for the
segment of this show. And since the track didn't have the
static, it was obviously an edited version of the track, all
it really takes is some hiss removal. We could be looking at
pladgerism, but on the other likely hand, alva noto could
simply be bullshitting about the albums process and taken
this track by someone else adding some fuzz. I don't know.
But it wasn't just uncanny, it WAS the track.

oh, that is odd.
i dunno if you have the actual album or not, but you can
kinda make out some of this text. it's weird that
you've noticed an 'un-edited' (?) track from an album that
seems to be put together from his own samples.

AFAIK, all the orchestral moments in xerrox were sampled.
Technically, the whole album is just one big sample,
obviously with some heavy process and modulation to get the
noisey/hiss effect.

the album is a bit more than "orchestral samples witgh some
noise/hiss" dont you think? :P

i know it wasnt meant like that but it sounded a bit lulzy

Oh I love the album, it was one of my favourites of 2007.
I'm just saying that he doesn't work with synths or
orchestrate in the traditional way so its more than likely
that what Gwerly heard was the original source material, or
something just like it. Alva Noto is more of a sound
artist/sculpter than a musician really. He doesn't use a
sequencer either I believe.

I don't know who first came up with the term "sound
sculptor", but that person should have their hands and lips
pulled off, and then get spanked for one straight year.

i was watching the discovery channel the other day and they
clearly played a song off of Pan sonic's Kulma and atrack
off of the Oval album Dok. They didnt even use it for
background music it was more for like dramatic sound
effects, very weird

Tim & Eric Awesome Show used the high pitched noise bit at
the start of Steinbolt for a dramatic effect once
