If you care to look into detail as to what being religious means everyone is religious. The pure fact that someone says she/he is not would fit the description of being religious. Now what if one would decline this description? Guess what... That could be interpreted as being religious.
From 0 to 1 in nought. hahahaha

I beleive in Brahma cycles. Not in it's anthropomorphic terms but the ideology of it. The big bang, the universe, the destruction of the universe, another big bang, etc. It makes sense that time would work in cycles.
Now when I say I beleive in this, I don't believe that our lives repeat in this cycle. Each cycle is unique, some cycles may chance upon the spontaneous unlikelyhood of a species evolving into whatever it may become.
This could be the first cycle ever to harvest an intelligent species, it may be the 1032590325th cycle. I believe that the purpose of life is to pool sentient information into an evolving metaphysical concept (you can call it god if you like but it doesn't call the shots and for all we know it could still be at an infantile stage of development).
Maybe it's just hard for me to accept that these cycles end with a total loss of all the accumulated information from the last cycle. I guess it's faith that keeps me pondering this entity called life, a force (although branched into singular individuals) that defines life and therefore is, in it's own way, one thing. life, time, ball, square. You can account for many subgenres of a thing, but it's a thing at the base, not things.

After reading into the big bang and all that universe stuff, I started to wonder how a new cycle could even begin. How can an expanding universe possibly reach that stage of a dot so full of mass and energy that it explodes once again. Well we're technically in the cool down stage, everything is expanding, getting colder, more empty space.
This is where black holes come in. They would eventually absorb everything, it's mindnumbing to conceive how long this would take. Given that blackholes are superficial, that would mean this universe is a 3 dimensional surface, something we can't really grasp as it's practically an oxy-moron to us.
Milky way, milk swirling around the surface of your coffee, theres a whole cup of coffee, all you see is the milky way design on the surface. It's in this other dimension that the energy accumulates to a single point. So once the blackholes have everything, it can begin again. Empty space doesn't account for anything, it's technically nothing. Just a peice of paper, a 3 dimensional surface for galaxies to form.

I know I'm stating shit as if I've figured it out. I haven't. Any individual spewing their crackpot theories deserves a yawn. We can't and don't know anything about everything. I just felt like a midnight rant in a thread where it could be said. Oh god yes.

Given that I'm an atheist, and the only truth is what's proven in the realm of science, I confabulate my theories off universe related things. I simply chose Brahma because it's the only religion that seems to understand (in it's own silly way) that the universe is following a logical timeline to destruction and rebirth.
I'd say the only illogical part of my theory is the internal faith that the end of a cycle doesn't result in a total loss of information, 'cause that would simply make everything we are meaningless, and the path to an acceptable life would merely be hedonism and suffering. Which is basically what life is. Religious ideologies takes the pity out of pitiful.

The universe has always worked on evolution and natural selection, maybe the entire universe as a whole does this too in its cycles, and that the accumulated knowledge expands and builds each cycle, into a pool of sorts. And that this changes the physical configuration of the universe, and ultimately a sentient being will become god.
But in theory it doesn't have to happen in several cycles either, it can also happen in one.
I read that after billions upon billions of years, the ever expanding universe will turn into nothing but photons, and can stay in that form for eternity (or till someone turns the switch off)
Maybe humans ultimate goal, or any living thing, is to design technology that will preserve the universe so that we can live in it forever, or maybe set off another big bang.
I do believe that our existence is meaningless, but our potential is without limits. Consciousness is the highest form of existence, even if we have the lowest possible implementation of it at this stage, there's nothing that says we can't become gods.
