My newest mix, Crashed, is up on The Pirate Bay and
seeding as I type this.

Quite possibly my most epic mix yet (not to sound bombastic
or anything), its actually two sessions I recorded, the
first of which completely crashed Ableton. I mean,
completely crashed; I had to copy every audio file and
effect automation by hand because the original file was so
fucked. Hence the title.

But here it is, in all its glory:

Crashed

1. Artist of the Year - Lead Swinger
2. Junkie XL - Booming Right at You
3. Daft Punk - Rock N' Roll
4. Boys Noize - My Head (Para One Remix)
5. Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (Stuart Price Remix)
6. Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (Live Version)
7. Mr. Oizo - Nazis (Justice Remix)
8. Daft Punk - Human After All (SebastiAn Remix)
9. Scandy - Just Human
10. Felix Da Housecat - Like Something 4 Porno (Teenage Bad
Girl Remix)
11. Junkie XL - Stratosphere
12. Digitalism - Pogo (Digitalism's Pogo Robotic Remix)
13. Jamiroquai - Little L
14. Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger
15. Sebastien Leger - Pluton
16. Ferry Corsten - Are You Ready
17. Monosurround - Cocked, Locked (Ready to Rock) (Vitalic
Mix)
18. Sebastien Leger - Jupiter
19. Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice (Junkie XL Mix)
20. Boys Noize - & Down
21. Junkie XL - Cities in Dust
22. SebastiAn - Untitled
23. Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin' (Teenage Bad
Girl Remix)

Total Time: 1:02:55

Download: Crashed
Blog: Lobie Minus HQ

Note: The torrent now also includes two individual tracks
from the mix, 'Little Harder Little Better' and 'I Don't
Feel Like _________,' both of which are also available to
stream and download on MySpace.

is your ableton not quite legal by any chance? cause this
happened to me as well, after a lot of tweaking on a mix. it
was so bad that i decided to buy a license to prevent that
from happening in the future

unfortunately, not yet. but im not sure whether that was
related to the crash. what happened was while i was changing
the tempo of the main track, i decided to double the tempo
of a beat-matched clip which was already playing. oh, and i
had delay going as well.

needless to say that didnt make ableton too happy and it
crashed something because after that I couldnt get any sound
out of the session whatsoever.

why would you put a mix up on pirate bay?

um, because torrents are way faster and more reliable than
megaupload and all that shit, and pirate bay is the biggest
public tracker there is.

makes sense to me. y'know, just because the word pirate is
in the name doesn't mean... oh nevermind.

for me it was like there was a counter that did a +1 for
every automation and event i did in that project. after
that, when i tried to mouse something, ables would just shut
down. it was infuriating to say the least.

out of curiosity was this on a mac or pc? because the
cracked ableton for windows is way more reliable than the
mac one, which, despite having a nice little macbook, i boot
camp into windows to use ableton.

it was ables 6 for the mac. possible one of the worst cracks
eveer

yeah, those were notorious for doing exactly what you
described.

people did all sorts of work around like locking the file
that they believed to be responsible for the "countdown" as
well as disconnecting from the internet with hijackthis but
everyone ive heard of eventually had the install fail and
then the only way to get another working copy is to
completely reformat.

v 5.2 for the mac was supposedly a little better, but that
doesnt really matter now that you have a real license.

are you using v 7 yet? ive heard good things about the beat
slicer and have a version downloaded but ive become so
comfortable in six i havent found a reason to upgrade yet.

upgraded from v6 a few months ago. got the posh version with
all the different plugins included. i was only after the
operator-plug but the other ones made a nice bonus. best
feature has to be that you can finally automate bpm. i've
been lusting for that feature for ages. havent had the time
to dick around much with it though, but it was worth the
monies (or hassle of cracking for others)

in what sense can you now automate bpm?

because i automate tempo changes to the track all the time.

you can draw or record a bmp curve in the sequence window
like you would draw the cutoff frequency of a filter

oh and nice mixy, not my cup of choons for such an amount of
time, but it was all rather nicely put together

thanks for listening, thats high praise coming from xlt's
fave resident maker of mixes.

and i can draw tempo envelopes in 6 just fine - maybe they
just made it more apparent or something, but when in session
view i just click on the master tab, and tempo is right
there in the drop down box to select and automate just as
with any other effect.
