Has anyone seen this chat show? it was filmed and aired
back in 2000 and I've been watching it on 4od.

It's absolutely hilarious! I never even knew this existed
and it's like some kind of holy treasure which has just been
given to me from out of nowhere. Gervais rules the shop when
he's not even known. The man has balls to match hitler.
Praise Gervais.

it's like... funny, yes... entertaining... I WAS SO GLAD I
FOUND IT... I DANCED IN THE STREETS!

but the love affair didn't last.

Today I look back at "Meet Ricky Gervais" and think: not
satisfactory... in fact: cheesy, awkward, superficial... as
a non-brit, I don't even know most of these guests so why
should I care??

but OK, gervais is such a lovable fat little puppy that I
can't be angry at his plump, wiggly face any longer!

It was a funny show, rough around the edges and sometimes
hit-or-miss: overall, very entertaining and interesting to
see Gervais just before he hit the big time after The 11
O'Clock Show.

I think I would like Gervais a lot more if I didn't hear a
thousand Brits thumping on about what a genius he is in the
back of my mind. Way too much adulation to the point of
nausea.

That's odd because, despite being British and living in
Britain, I haven't heard adulation for Gervais since the
days of The Office, some five plus years ago. Most of the
people I know haven't watched Extras and aren't fussed by
him, and the British Press has been lukewarm toward him for
the past couple of years. I guess the thousands of Brits
must be ex-pats living in NYC rather than in the UK.

Yep. People in Britain find him pretty irrelevant and a bit
one dimensional. How come you have a thousand Brits living
in the back of your mind?

Thats interesting though. I thought he was going to be
knighted.
