A tough one as so many of these are some of his best work I think...wish he still did em; it used to seem that every other release would have AFX remix on it...but I guess he doesn't need the dollar anymore....
Anyway, my faves would be....
#1... CURVE - Falling Free... #2... 808 State - Flow Coma... #3... JESUS JONES - Zeros & Ones (#1 & #2)... #4... SEEFEEL - Time to Find Me (Fast Mix)..
(As with all fave lists this seems to vary from day to day...)
How about you?...

Alberto...was listening to those St Etienne tracks on the bus this morning...absolutly beautiful...
Thanks be to the tech gods for MP3CD players...I can more or less carry the entire AFX back cat with me and listen to anything whenever the fancy takes me...best thing I've bought for ages...

It's not a HD one...I'm waiting til they come down in price, go up in storage (I want 20Gigs and that costs too much at the mo...)...
On average I get about 150 tracks on a single CD...these are R3MIX VBR encoded ones so are 100x better quality than 128Kb/s MP3s....obviously theres a trade off between quality and size, I like to go the R3MIX route as to my ears it's virtually the same as CD (which can't be said for most MP3s out there)...
Not bad for £99...

Baby Ford is def one of the forgotten Heros of Acid...if you ever get the chance to pick up any of his albums, do so...I'll check my CD's later and see what the name of the album I have is...
I was really thrilled when I heard AFX was remixing Normal...it's def one of his best mixes (I love that Telephone bit in the middle...with his answer phone excuse..)

I've got the BFORD9 from Baby Ford which is a real classic. Check out "Fetish"
I like the Remix he did for the "Fantastische Vier" - a german HipHop band. It ends up in a totally wierd Drill 'n Bass part.

Theres a disco for Peter Ford at http://music.hyperreal.org/library/discogs/baby_ford/ ...
I've got FordTrax (bought back in 88, so I'm feeling very old today, to paraphrase Morrisey...)...and the Oochy Coochy (FU Baby) CD single...
I just noticed that "Normal" isn't mentioned as a BF release...theres obviously been some confusion here...think it should have been Flowers (which is the track with that Fl-Fl-Flowers sample in it...)...

...Yep..I was right about "Flowers"...
"Unreleased versions of old Baby Ford tracks from the BFORD 9 phase and before, released on Richard D. James' (Aphex Twin) Rephlex label. The 'Helston Flora Remix' is an Aphex Twin remix of 'Flowers' which had originally been released on the 'Ford Trax' mini-album and 'Oochy Koochy' singles. The remix also samples a phonecall from Peter. 'Is it normal' is a new track recorded at Ifach Studio, while the other 'mixes' have been recorded during the BFORD9 phase. The 'Sashay Mix' is a version of 'Sashay round the fuzzbox' but much more of a soulful song than the LP track, and the 'Blown Back Mix' is a mix of 'Blow Back'. The 'Changed Version' is an unreleased version of 'Change'. Quite confusing tracklisting, isn't it ? Also note that the letters added to the catalogue numbers of the 4 different formats form the word 'TRAX' :O) "

I would DEFINITELY have to say the Flow Coma remix. That track is absolutely superb - so dirty and intricately programmed. To me it really shows RDJ's skills in full "flow" (if you'll pardon the pun).

Agreed, he does seem to devote a lot of time & effort when reworking these old acid classics...theres a lot of love involved...
Kinda lives up to the old Rephlex slogan..."Innovations in the Dynamics of Acid"...

Curve definately - lovely remix. Thing is all his remixes are fantastic.
I've always found RDJ does such a good job with remixes, much better the Autechre who don't really seem to attempt much during their remixing. Discuss.

While on this note i've been meaning to ask this......
Does anyone know if the Aphex remix of the Lemonheads which RDJ did ever got released?
The story goes that when the courier turned up to collect the DAT with it on he hadn't done it. SO he went back to his room and taped the first thing he could find off and gave it to him, so none of the original actually got used (not strange in itself for him to do that).

Yeah, I always wondered what happened to that...
Google gives us this tidbit..."..."Style", off "Come on Feel...", was remixed as "Rick James Style" by Richard D. James, alias The Aphex Twin. " ...
Has anyone ever seen, heard this track?...didn't someone mention that The Lemonheads were released a Greatest Hits & there was gonna be a Rare BSide/Remixes CD with that recently...my 16K of memory is fucked but I'm sure someone said something along these lines...
Anyone?...

Flagpole: But as far as songwriting strategy goes, do you ever write songs with another artist in mind?
Dando: Not really, no. Um, the "Rick James Style," did you hear that?
Flagpole: Sure.
Dando: Yeah, that was kind of written with him in mind [laughs].
Flagpole: How did you and Rick James get together?
Dando: It was through the Robb brothers, the people who did the last two records. They knew him, and he was in between jail sentences.
mmm...I'm confused now...sounds like a different Rick James...

Rick James was/is a Motown artist. MC Hammer's You Can't Touch This was a sample of James' Superfreak.
He went to jail for sexually assaulting a woman with his wife.
