media monkey is great for music ...

.Vlc is video and music with streaming in/out
using it for years now

the one i really hate is quicktime i cant drag an file onto
an player how freaking stupid is that...and every time i
open a new file it opens 'an' new player what the freak is
that all about???

winamp sounds shit..but cool for shoutcast windoze sounds
shietA messed up.

vlc is clean if you dont go to high on the volume. it offers
+ db
so watch y levels.

Foobar for music and VLC for just about anything.

Theoretically i could use VLC exclusively, but foobar's
interface (especially the ease of tagging) make it
preferable for music.

I also remember Zoom Player being admirable.

i used zoom for a lil while too, a nice versatile player
with quite a few customizable little bits, but vlc just cant
be beat anymore.

It's been a long time since I used anything but Winamp for
audio, and Zoom Player for video.

oh, i will say, the ui for zoom player is much nicer than
vlc's in windows xp.

on the other hand, vlc uses the standard ui in mac os x
which is excellent - i don't know how it looks in vista tho.
