haha you know you're in for a bad time when you get hit with
a first question like that.

thanks for the link! (seems rob & sean makes quite a lot of
pr for this album...?)

was it me, or did the interviewer sense sean was getting
pissed off and kept asking rob to answer the questions
instead?

"rob, what do you think of..."

i dunno, maybe i'm imagining it, but props to them for
enduring 15 minutes of journalist hell.

And what does 'obscure but influential' mean, anyways? I get
the idea, but I still don't like it.

i think their answers were cool though, they gave good info
even with the stupid questions :)

this is so bad, worth mentioning twice. what a stupid bitch,
how in the hell could they be paired up with someone like
that for an audio interview. dumbest questions ive ever
heard given to an artist. she doesnt know a fucking thing
about electronica, just the typecast shit, like drugs at
parties, and ohhh how do they make all the instruments play
at once, and everyone does crazy drugs at electronica shows.
you can tell this bitch probably listens to U2 and dixie
chicks, throwing politics in the fucking mix. I lol'd when
Rob (or was it Sean) just said "no" to a question. It was a
stupid question.

"you don't judge, that's what you're saying" <- golden
nuggets of journalistic prowess

man, you guys...doing interviews is a bit more difficult to
what it seems..obviously there are people who can do it
better, but generally it's just not as easy as it may seem.
but yeah, questions about music itself are sort of
unnecessary as you can hear it (except when you talk to
people who're in it from the sound part, which could apply
to ae as well i guess, though there's other stuff more
interesting), why explain it? though on the other hand some
people, specially with ae, are interested in that sort of
thing..but yeah, show some compassion for the interviewers :
)

No. If you are going to interview someone, then do some
fucking research first. I realise not everyone is expected
to know their subject 100%, but a good journalist will know
which questions not to ask, simply because they'll probably
be the first things which come to mind and no doubt have
been asked loads of times before. After 15 or so years of
being in the industry, I bet they're sick to death of naming
influences or talking about how they get ideas for music.

well guess what..i've been listening to their music for a
long time but i still asked those questions : ) the thing is
these interviews aren't only for the hardcore fans like
yourself, but for a wider audience that don't know them all
that well.

Fair enough, thats where a good introduction helps. Give the
audience some idea of who they're listening to in case they
don't know, then start the interview proper. I guess my main
gripe is she showed absolutely zero passion for the full 15
minutes. It was as if she had been asked to do an interview
on the spot without any idea who she was actually talking
to. The best questions are always asked when theres a
synergy between the interviewer and the interviewed. Oh
well, not worth losing any sleep over, but I can imagine the
boys walking out of the studio afterwards and saying "not
again..."

well yeah, i agree with what you're saying, but i'd just
like to say it's not always easy to do interviews. a few
weeks ago i was interviewing dj krush and it was quite
obvious he was/is tired of giving interviews, so nothing can
help you to do those things right. autechre gave plenty of
interviews in the past couple of months and it wouldn't be
surprising if they'd be fed up with it. though it doesn't
seem that to be the case in this interview..and when you say
this interviewer seems as she was asked to do this on a
spot..what if that really was the case? it's ofcourse silly
to do that sort of thing once you get musicians like ae, but
i guess it may happen..people must start somewhere..

When you've simply had enough of shit interviews with
brainless questions, then the sigur ros technique is for you!

I found that a pretty inspiring interview. She wasn't quite
as bad as I was expecting. I think she's just new to that
music...

wow, I can actually relate to the guys, it's nothing
particularly shocking to me since many Nordic countries are
like that, and with or without a goods set of questions
there's always that element of reserve to be expected.

caught the last 5 minutes this morning, thought i was still
half asleep. i can't think of any other musicians being
given a 15-minute interview on the today programme, never
mind ae - i mean, it's a news show innit? not even as if you
get much about electronic music on the rest of radio 4...

given their demographic i didn't think it was that
bad an interview anyway, just a sort of bog-standard
introduction thing. very weird slot for it though

about politics then"
