tool assisted though, mario doesn't swim that fast nor does
that ass-glitch occur anywhere (at least, not the 3829482
times i've played the game :/)

Tool-assisted speedruns are one of the reasons I can go on
living.

i remember shooting from a canon into the castle and getting
into some glitched area, but simply jumping into the edge of
a room doesnt catapult you to where you wanna go. nor can
you swim that first. or just fly across the screen like
that.. :

So far it's the only console with GoldenEye.

Did you know that Pefect Dark is better than Goldeneye? It's
true!

There are seriously people that are damn near that good at
certain games, but that particular one does seem too
perfectly TAS.

It works perfectly fine in Project 64, though you might have
to mix and match some plug-ins.

Both GE and PD are really bad by modern standards but I'll
be first in line to buy GE for Xbox Live, the nostalgia is
off the charts.

What do you mean really bad? They're great fun and perfectly
balanced, which is all that matters. The only problem I can
see is the AI might now look a little dodgy in places but
whatevs.

Yeah it's mostly AI issues with Goldeneye. Pretty much
gamebreaking for me. The gunplay has none of the dynamics
and nuance of modern games. It's boring and unchallenging,
almost feels like I'm exploiting them rather than fighting
them. The game doesn't work as a run-and-gun shooter like
the other FPS' of that era, Quake et al, so without AI,
forget it. The mission design holds up, though. If they
tweak the archaic gameplay, those missions are still up to
the task.

Perfect Dark's problem is technical. I used to play the
Combat Simulator like 6 hours a day. But even in the year
2000, the 4 player split-screen was stupidly chuggy.
Especially with bots... which sucks because the level
designs were mostly designed with the usage of bots in mind,
they weren't like Goldeneye's tight little 4p maps. In 2008,
it's graduated from annoying to unplayable. The single
player is alright.

It's still better than Perfect Dark Zero, anyway.

Yeah, Perfect Dark really is slow. I wouldn't say it's a
problem with the game itself, it just wasn't made for the
right console. I recently played it in Project64 and it was
beautiful and fast and great. Emulation is the best thing
that could happen to gaming.

"emulation is the best thing that could happen to gaming."

agreed!

and ophecks, thanks for the info, I think I tried to play it
a couple of years ago on PJ64 when the emulator was still
taking its baby steps, but I think I'll go back and get the
latest version and plug-ins to try this out... another game
that didn't work the last time I tried was Conker's Bad Fur
Day, which I hope is already playable.

The idea of GoldenEye was to play in multiplayer, it's all
about the remote mines and proximity mines.

Indeed, emulation wails. It does wonders for games from that
era especially.

And I think a lot of modern games could learn from Perfect
Dark's customization options. Man alive there's such much to
do in the Combat Sim.

I had a lot of fun but personally I always found the levels
in that game pretty bland, nowhere near as interesting or
dynamic as the levels in Perfect Dark. They felt balanced
almost too a fault, almost TOO conservative.

But then I always used to get my ass kicked in Goldeneye and
it made me mad and bitter. Don't mind me.
