nothing to do with the real gun fight on a 007 set this
week..but this...( i don't smoke now but this made me 'hate
laugh' at the government)

>

Forcing smokers to apply for a £10 permit to buy cigarettes
could help people to quit, a government health adviser
said.

Professor Julian Le Grand, chairman of Health England, said
more people might stop smoking if they had to "opt in" by
applying for an annual permit and paying a £10 fee.

------

what a PILE OF SHIT.....£10 for a license ( 40 cigs
equivalent)

this is just new leeching methods the poor will suffer ..it
wont help a middle /upper class person give up smoking will
it!!

10 pounds now 5 years time 100 pounds.....10 years time 1000
pounds.

it shows the state of this country £10 is so much money it
will help poor people to quit. after working 45 hours in
factories and ending up with pennies at the end of the
month. .. is what they meant to say.

as an ex smoker i think this is a good idea. however it
should be free. otherwise will rightly be branded as a money
spinner. on the contrary i can see the drive in grey
imported tobbacco going through the roof.

We have more than 4 television channels, what are you
talking about? Also, every silly idea gets publicised here -
unlike the USA, they very rarely make it past the "being
laughed at" stage, plus it's hardly comparable to something
like The Patriot Act. Also, the CCTV is mainly in city
centres and on public transport, to curtail anti-social
behaviour from the UK's most embarrassing blemish, the binge
boozers.

you wait ..one day speed cameras and cctv with evolve into
swarms of tiny insect cameras that monitor the way you walk
to the way you talk and conform you by electric shock to the
central nervous system... a heavy fine ....owwch more time
spent at work....if you hate your job/enslavement it hurts
even more..

legalize....

i think the £10 licence idea is brilliant and hilarious in
equal measure. imagine all the fights breaking out at the
tobacco kiosk in tesco's!
