Digital Basic Channel

Beatport now have the Basic Channel back catalogue (BC 1-9,
Basic Reshape and Infinition) on mp3 or (if you're pockets
are deep) wav.

They sound like they've been well mastered from what I've
listened to so far.

They should be in the Notorious F.L.A.C. and not much more
expensive than mp3 - just enough to cover bandwidth
difference. Come on, this is 2008. Do you also have them on
8 track, grampa? Can the mail-man deliver it through my
postal-chute?

Digital Basic Channel

Surely an oxymoron.

I heard that FLAC isn't quite as good as CD

You kids with your fancy Edison cylinders. In my day we had
boxes full of tiny musicians and that was good enough, dad
gum it.

i've said it before, and i'll repeat myself here: the new
digitized basic channels feel like angels peeing down my
ears. so, i couldn't help myself and bought all of them in
wav. just for kicks.

The wav's were just a bit too pricey. something like 80 quid
for the whole lot. the mp3's still sound superb tho

at these prices I'd rather just get the damn 12"s.

You hear one Basic Channel track, you've heard them all, but
it's a good one.

i don't get it, is it these tracks at 2 euro 50 a piece,
because those don't sound good to me at all

ah right, gotcha.

yep, bc was made for vinyl. i actually think the conversions
are tastefully done (they run dubplates and mastering
afterall so they know what they're doing), but they keep all
the bc/m-series/main street records in press anyway so its
redundant really. but i realise some people don't own
turntables and its always better to hear digital bc than
none at all!

that's not the best place to start, imo. enforcement is the
more straightforward techno-souding record from the batch.
i'd buy octagon if i were you. it has got the typical basic
channel production, and it's both ambient and pounding
techno at the same time (contradiction? hell no! that's one
of signs of a good basic channel track).

does everybody's 03 Enforcement (recall) end with a split
second of 01 Enforcement?

yep, the vinyl-version sounds like that too...

(I don't know...if you distort the recall version, you might
get the basic lead for the original version??!? O_o )

It's great to finally be able to buy and play these classic
tracks at full lenght and quality without the sound of the
crappy vinylpressings!
