Last time I was in detroit, I enquired about the party scene
and the chap who I was talking to in the records store said
it was "Okay, but nowhere near what it once was."

i am too young for the proper scene; things are still alive
and kicking thanks to some great locals. i only realize
this after traveling to a few cities and finding that there
are generally only one or two good "parties" a weekend.
nothing during the week, and they don't generally hop to
different parties (but their cities are much bigger and it
does take a long time to move around).

but man, sometimes i take for granted how much good music
(literally, 3-6 good events every-weekend) goes on here.

Who was playing? Playing what? The last time I was in
Detroit there were two parties to go to. Daniel Bell played
retro nonsense and an un named dj played some classics but
it wasn't 2008.

actually it was 2008 but the music was the same as last year
and the year before.

jeff mills and dopplereffekt (if they're still in detroit)
are two detroit acts i still care for deeply...this new
techno vibe i don't like much i must say. but it's always
nice to have a scene..nice things turn out of that
often..people pushing each other..

we have gigs going on all the time here as well..there's a
few every day usually..but this includes all of the music,
not just certain styles. but you know..berlin and
london..you get to pick among like 10 super awesome gigs per
day in those cities..

where are all these shows at? i've been trying to find this
"scene" for so long and i have no way of knowing where this
stuff happens or where to start looking, the only electronic
related shows i know about are the annual TechFest, and some
stuff that happens at the MOCAD by C.C.S.

where are all the good shows at? I want to check it out.

i am poor with feelings.

because i am not poor with money.

my mother has access to alot of money now that she's
remarried to a wealthy dude.

thats how i can afford to goto this ARTSY school. 26,000 a
Year.

I did win alot of scholarship money though, like 8,000 a
year.

LAZY_TITLE

Gary Bredow's documentary High Tech Soul: The Creation of
Techno Music traces the evolution of techno from its origins
in Detroit, in the late '60s, to an international phenomenon
by the late '80s. The program explores the connections
between the actual sound of techno music and sociocultural
elements of the Motor City, and studies the myriad of ways
in which techno continues to set and shape contemporary
trends.

(I don't remember if this was good or not)

It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They've got cars big as bars
They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night

The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day

You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last

I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you
