Ever been in one? Probably one of the most intense things
Ive ever gone through.

Sorry, I'll start off. Many years ago, I hydro planed into a
massive tree at about 40 mph on a snowy night. I had
premonitions about it for weeks too. The car gets pulled
into the tree, everything goes slow motion. I brace myself.
I hit the steering wheel and black out. I wake up after a
bit, Don't know how long. Notice the steering wheel is bent
completely. I get out. Car is crumpled like a tin can. I run
to my friends place a couple miles a way. I storm into his
home bleeding like a stuck pig. Face totally cut to pieces.
You get the picture.

Shit!

I was in one about ten years ago. My mother was driving and
the car went over a large puddle of water rather fast, we
planned and hit a sign on a large refuge.. It felt like it
happened in two seconds, didn't understand what the f was
going on.. My mother said she saw her whole life flash
before her eyes just before she/we hit the sign. Nobody got
hurt but it was one brutal day..

Some kid and his ma once walked into the side of my car on a
rainy day as I was approaching traffic lights.

I felt like the car was pulling me off the road for a couple
weeks. Like it wanted to go in the direction that it did. I
t was really weird. I'm not much for the paranormal, but I
have experienced paranormal things. I was living, I'm
convinced, in a haunted apartment at the time. The complex
was built over a cemetery. Haunted, like feeling evil
entities standing over me. My roommate had the same thing
happen the same night in his room and we both shared the
story. We started to tell the same story at the same time.
Then he put a cross up on the wall and it fell to the
ground.

on a 700km journey from canada into the mountains of new
hampshire, our rental car managed to crash just one block
away from the destination. we were in the middle of a snow
storm, and the roads were iced up. instead of going around
the last bend, the car just kept going straight. slid right
across the other lane and into the ditch.

was a very interesting experience, a sort of slow-motion
hyper-awareness. infinity happening in an instant. i managed
to get out some nonchalant remark as we were sliding, i
think it was "this is good.."

luckily the snow cushioned the impact, didn't even set the
air bags off. the front bumper was ripped apart, though. and
my mom didn't get renters insurance. a $3000 mistake :\

I've slid on ice plenty of times, including on country roads
once spinning a transit van on a roundabout--but I've never
experienced any "hyper awareness" or "life flashing"
incidents.

Its also made me sort of anti car. Id much rather take the
train than maneuver at high speeds on the interstate. Those
people are nuts. Especially those 18 wheelers. Just one fuck
up needs to happen out there and all hell could break loose.

Been in tons of minor bumps and scrapes, but no full fledged
wrecks. But I definitely know that distinctive feeling of
time slowing down/life flashing before your eyes. I remember
sliding on ice going through a stop sign, right through a
busy intersection. A couple of cars going full speed JUST
missed intercepting me, I might have been pulverized. Scared
the shit out of me and that aspect of my driving has
improved since then, I'm much more careful about icy
intersection approaches now. Still way too nonchalant with
everything else though.

I was riding in my friend's car on the way back to our
hometown, and we came to a stretch of road passing over a
creek that was 1 lane each way, with only about two feet of
clearance to the side before a guardrail. We were stuck
behind a large, open-backed truck with assorted lawn tools
and tractors and such that was going well under the speed
limit. Trying to make good time, my friend, Paul, has the
bright idea to pass the truck, and as we are passing the
point of no return, we notice there are two girls walking
their bikes up onto the road (because the sidewalk ends at
the creek).

Paul's first reaction was to get the car off the road since
veering right would hit the work-truck, but we slammed into
the guardrail hard, and in his panic he locked the brakes.
It was at this point in time I was expecting my life to
flash before my eyes and all that, but I was overwhelmed to
the point of complacency, and all I could do was throw up my
hands and shut my eyes.

We ended up skidding straight into the lead girl, and she
flew up onto the windshield right in front of me. Banged up
her knee and forehead pretty bad, but luckily she lived.
When the paramedics arrived, a few ran straight over to me
which was surprising because I didn't think I was hurt.
Turns out it was lucky I threw my arms up, otherwise my face
would have been shredded by imploding glass. They bandaged
my hands up and then rejoined their buddies attending the
girl.

I sat on the side of the road while Paul dealt with the
police report. His car was considered totalled by the
insurance company. I wanted to say something to the girl we
didn't hit, but I didn't know what to say. Eventually we
were allowed to go home, a friend came and picked us up. I
had to throw the shirt I was wearing that day out because
the blood had stained it. That was the worst wreck I've been
in... It was a really bad day but at least nobody died.

ended up on the AC expressway by accident because of
overwhelming traffic in AC due to a boxing match that night
and some jerkoff (who said a guy came up to him with a gun
and told him to get out of his car, thus he was speeding to
get away from him) T boned me while going at least 80 and i
was doing 55.

wrecked my car and i broke my collarbone in the accident.
seatbelt did it but also avoided much worse because
obviously.

so how does someone who tries to carjack you chase you in a
car?

this happened 2-3 years ago and i'm still not fully
comfortable driving.

actually had a panic attack almost a year ago while riding
with a friend.

one of my first memories is a car wreck. i remember being
constrained in the car seat, crying from the noise and
having an awful headache from wacking it on the back of the
carseat. it was in a residential neighborhood, and it was my
mother who'd been driving the little toyota. we were
rear-ended, and i remember my mom trying to get some guy who
was mowing his lawn's attention, but he was oblivious. never
been in a crash more serious, just a couple of knicks here
and there.

i was stupidly reading something one day a few years ago and
accidentally drove a company car off a three foot drop
between these apartment parking lots. needless to say it
fucked the car up pretty bad but hey i didnt get hurt! i
drove off (the exhaust was torn off and VERY loud) and some
guy who saw it happen called where i worked (the number was
on the car) and was like "is that dude ok? he just drove a
car off a three foot drop and it didnt look good." i had
this perfect story all picked out too about how the exhaust
just tore off probably because the cracked front axle
knocked it loose. fucker.

thankfully i've never been in a car wreck, however i have
had that 'time slowing down' sensation from accidents on my
mountain bike. the worst one i had ended up with me in
hospital with about 7 hours memory loss, had to have brain
scans and stuff, i still don't remember what actually
happened that day and neither do the friends i was with as i
had ridden ahead and they just found me lying on the floor.
fortunately i was wearing a helmet as i always do...it
probably saved me from a lot worse that day as helmets have
done on previous occasions too. on the 2 occasions where
i've had the slow time experience the very same thought has
always passed through my head in the few seconds before
impact..."oh shit, this is going to hurt!"

One morning seven years ago I was driving to school. The
temperature was a little above freezing and it was slightly
rainy. I hit an icy spot and the car slid sideways. That's
the last thing I remember about that. No life flashing or
anything, just a big hhhhhhhhhkkkkkkk noise as the
car slid around. When I regained consciousness the car was
upside down in the center of the road and some guy was
breaking the side window in order to extract me. When the
car slid sideways, it must have reached the end of the icy
patch, come to an extremely sudden stop, and flipped over. I
never left the road. I ended up with a minor concussion and
a good many tiny cuts from flying glass.

Nope. I've clipped a wall at about 20mph courtesy of some
cock in the oncoming lane taking the centre line through a
corner, but no, not a proper crash. I've thrown my motorbike
down the road a few times, but never seriously damaged it
(or myself).

Palahnuick's "Rant". HTH.

Went over a ledge on a camping trip with a macho dickhead
driver, trying to show off fish tails on hairpin turns.

Heres some photos we took when it was being towed -
1
2

Went we went over I was very peacefull about his last second
"sorry man", and braced myself. We flipped twice and I'd
have to say the scariest thing was how painless it was when
it happened, because when I came to I was afraid that
something was broken and I just didn't know it yet, or that
my friend was dead. Took 10 seconds to get a response from
him, those 10 seconds felt like forever, I didn't want to
find myself next to a dead body. Ahh, memories. Sliced my
scalp open through the window, I remember not being able to
leave the scab alone, I'm terrible with scabs.

i stacked a motor bike head on into a landrover who was
doing a right hand turn accross my path. i went flying then
landed on the other side of the road just missing another
car coming the other way. just a broken finger and cut up
leg, i was ok. when i got to the hospital i cained a whole
canister of gas and air, and i was hearing echoing, every
sound echoed, really interesting experience. got £5000
compensation, and spent it on shit, best thing thaty ever

i was riding around with a friend about 5 summers ago, and
some lady didn't stop at the stop sign, and we hit her going
at least 30. My head went almost through the windshield, my
head hit so hard it spidered all the way to each side of the
windshield.
I walked away with a minor concusion and an egg on my
forehead. minimal blood from what i can remember... but yeah
the slow motion thing is very true in my case, as well.

No civilian wreck, other than a tiny fender-bender at 5mph.

i rolled my rally car multiple times at 70mph after coming
down left over a crest and the snow sucked the car right
into the snow bank.

that was fun :)

Yes, it's a fucker how most accidents for bikers are caused
by idiots in cars turning right across our paths. It's some
slight comfort to consider that these are usually low speed
incidents round town that don't result in serious injury and
that most accidents resulting in death of the rider are the
riders' fault.
