Over at watmm. I am sorry to sneak over there... but at
least I don't have a username there too like SOME people.
you know who you are.

thanks to ~ism at reverb magazine

here's an interesting bit:

"What’s your take on the likes of Myspace and online
fan communities like xltronic and watmm?

WATMM? What’s WATMM?

We Are The Music Makers…

…Oh THAT thing! And XLTronic, well XLT, it’s a bit more
macho innit and We Are The Music Makers is a bit more geeky.
I like them both, slightly…but, you know, it’s like any
online community."

"It just gets massively overblown because people think
it’s dead interesting, but it’s not is it? To me it’s
just like a bunch of arpeggiators plugged into each other,
going off and we’ve been doing that since Lego Feet
days."

i knew it !

"The thing is, We Are The Music Makers is actually alright
now, because they’ve divided it up into fan rooms, it
stops people going like “you fuckin’ twat – that band
are shit” posting in threads they shouldn’t even be
posting to."

Great interview, btw. Thanks for the link Wolfslice. I was
hoping for the reporter not only to ask for a live-album,
but also a collection of their remixes. And I also want Sean
to namedrop what artists he is listening to atm.

Hm, interesting read. I was figuring them to be a little
more reclusive when they talk about their work.

His response to the bootleg/live album question, "we
wouldn’t ever charge for them", seems to settle the
question as to whether the Ltd. Ed. CD2 of Quaristice could
be, or could ever have been, a live gig recording... not
that I ever expected it would, but some people seemed to get
carried away with that idea.

WATMM is segregated and they're a bunch of cud-chewing
domesticated cattle.

Xltronic is a blissful free-for-all where free-reign is
given, and the better for it.

What about the lot that post at both places? Are they worse
or better? Can the two IDM super forums ever peacefully
co-exist? Will there be a time where Phobia and Joyrex will
skip playfully through fields of corn to pastures of of
mutual respect? I dream of a world where macho hunks and
fact seeking geeks stand gazing in to each others eyes,
praising the interview that bought them together with one
whispered word...

"Autechre...

i think when sean booth said that it was very revealing.

he was probably projecting his own internal mental struggle
about if hes a macho guy or a geek at heart. he feels torn
between the two and hasnt come to terms with this duality
yet

good read.

what's this supposed to mean:

--------------
question guy:
Do you have any plans to release an EP to support the
album?

ae:
Errm…this isn’t it, but there’s no EP. That’s all
I’m going to say at this point.
--------------

?
