the bottom of the line is i have to try out more brands i
suppose

at this store i liked Event TR-8XLE (380 euro a piece)
and genelec 8020 A (289 euro a piece, they were out of
8030A's)

and i think the events sounded flat, which is good for
monitoring, but it maybe was a bit too flat, also i don't
know how well the low is represented
the genelecs on the other hand seemed to boost the signal.
they sounded really nice. but i don't know how good they
are for me for monitoring.
(i also tried the krk vxt6 and 8's and i hated those, it
seemed to boost too but it seemed all over the place, it
didn't sound tight like the genelecs. maybe it's good for
representing lows).

I think you should consider purchasing nearfield monitors,
because you will be able to monitor the sound more
accurately. Your room can interfer with the sound otherwise.
most of the time your better off with nearfields. The down
fall with nearfiends is that the bass doesn't have enough
room for you to monitor it, but that's why you get a
seperate sub monitor and place it at a good distance from
your nearfield.
with this set up properly you can really monitor your music
very well. be cautious when auditioning in the store, dont
just got for which one sounds the best, flat is better for
nearfields, accurate detail. err the sub you want to be low
and deep, and clear.

regards

Larn

get the industry standard .....what is that now?? yam ns10
no longer made! im not sure? little skipping
girl.......will you venture into the land of surround? with
your miusic it would sound rather cool....buy something you
can get in a few years so you have a matching set....if
thats possible.

i use spirit absolute 2's ...no subs ... 6 of em ...one i
punctured with an umbrella ...ive said that story so many
times....just dont open a brolly indoors when y get your new

thanks for the tips

i don't think i'm going to get a sepperate bass or going
into surround at the moment

i guess i should try mackie's, if i can see them at a store

i should consider what it will sound like on my setup at
home as well

NS10's are no longer made, but Yamaha make a modern
equivalent, and i believe they're active monitors too.

i can't remember the model number though, but you'll find
them if you dig deep enough

well i bought event 20/20 bas monitors from e-bay
it's good though even more expensive monitors have better
really low bass

in general i think active monitors don't sound too good, it
all sounds a bit plastic to my ears

I'm thinking of getting some monitors as well. Krks dont cut
it hey? they're the ones i was spying on. I'm not really
looking for complete flat response, just some juicy sound.
my bose monitors are shite.

genelec sound like sex and autechre
like i said they seem to boost over the whole range, but it
doesn't really matter what kind of speakers your getting
when you now its peculiarities
they are small and look cool, the smallness doesn't cost
bass, compared to same pricerange speakers of other brands
