Side scrolling shooter on Xbox Live Arcade for 800
microsoft dollarpoints or whatever the currency is.
Definitely worth the investment, lots of fun, nice graphics
and tough enough to keep you going for a while. Seek it out!

I would if I didn't suck at them. Tried the Puzzle Quest
demo, though, and the hype wasn't unwarranted. I'm thinking
of buying it, but not sure about the platform yet.

xbox live arcade is really nice, if I had a 360 I would use
it. :] As a PC gamer, I've got gametap, which is quite nice.
It's got emulation for multiple different platforms,
including atari, master system, genesis, neo geo (so its got
all the metal slug games), DOS, Windows, arcade, and more.
All for 9.99USD a month

Now I just need to get one of these. If you're
wondering, gametap still has keyboard support for every
platform, but it's best to have a nice controller for all
the old console systems.

xbox live arcade is great. it's a bit of a rip off. i've
been playing paperboy a lot recently. now that's a classic
game.

I'll look into it, been a while since I indulged in a shmup.
BTW did anyone see the trailer for the new remake of the
original Bionic Commando? I thought it looked lame in that
awkward 2.5 manner until I saw how fun it looked in motion.

That trailer made me a lot more excited. If the controls can
stand up to the kind of mayhem youre going to want to put
your character through (in regards to targeting/attacking
enemies + swinging) it could be amazing to play.

The graphic style is still wank, generic lighting, effects,
dark colors, how hard would it be for them to make a
cel-shading engine? I've seen some great examples, even Jet
Set Radio on the DC had a pretty decent engine.

The concept artwork is brilliant though, Shinkiro is the
man, he has that mean 80's action heroe style going on with
his male character designs.

Some aspects of it looked like Team Fortress 2 style to me,
especially one of the propaganda posters on the wall, but
yeah I'm not a big fan of the style overall, hence why I
thought it looked lame until I saw it moving and grooving.
The gameplay looks way more fun than the original.

I'm actually playing through Castlevania- Dracula X (Rondo
of Blood) remake on PSP right now, another awkwardly done 2D
game with sort of bland implementation of 3D graphics. But
unlike BC, the gameplay hasn't evolved at all. 2.5D really
CAN make the gameplay better.

Oh yeah totally, he looks neat. The actual real 3D Bionic
Commando sequel for 360 and PS3 has the weakest saucest main
character design ever. Though the full 3D usage of the arm
looks like it could be rad.

although you know gaming has advanced when you can even
complain about that.

Yeah I'm a big fan of 2.5D as well, in motion it looks
better but still a bit stiff in my opinion, 3D is very slow
for 2D gameplay, for the new Street Fighter 4 they had to
use some tricks to get the engine to play like the old 2D
games. The 3D bionic commando is just ridiculous, oh man
those dreadlocks it's like we're on '99 again.
