i dunno, IF i had an HD TV, and IF i
didn't love downloading movies free and watching them on my
xbmc, then renting high def movies on itunes would seem
pretty dope.

especially if they could drop the time from theater to
rental (preferably to zero).

I think maybe they said it'd be released at the end of
February?

nah, the studios make too much money with the theater
system...they won't give that up so easily.

think about it, they basically cover the budget of the film
with a theatrical release...any profit after thats been
cleared and dvd/download sales is gravy...and funding for
the next big piece of shit

i bought one of the first ultraportables back in 2002.
toshiba portege 2000. it was the world's thinest laptop at
the time. it's still in the top 5 i think.

it obviously doesn't have an optical drive. the only time
that was a problem was when i needed to reinstall windows..
very tricky getting it to boot from external media.

anyway, it still runs well 6 years later. you can get them
on ebay for $300 now, too.

It's really ridiculously thin. It'd fit in that envelope
Steve was showing off, for sure. Weighs under 3 lbs, too.

And it has built in wireless, pcmcia slot, sd card slot, ir
port, 2 usb, modem, 100mb ethernet, 20 gig drive, 750mhz
p3.. and one of the best looking laptop displays I've ever
seen.

in terms of new subnotebook 'wi fi' era-ness, the Eee shits
all over this. No way near as powerful, but no way near as
big. or pricey. and essentially does the same things, wi fi,
web and camera. and it fits in my hoddie. and it runs live6
fine! and i can have all my different sets on sd cards.

I don`t need that kind of laptop maybe it`s good for people
who are looking for a fast typewriter? I`m using optical
drive a lot, Fw external drive, mouse and lot`s of other usb
stuff. Powerbook 12" is still one of the bests computers on
earth, I was hoping for a core2duo version of that machine.
Guess I will have to buy macbook than.
