Synth reccomendation

I need a synth. It must be able to do these following
things:

* Midi capabilities
* Should be able to produce some nice sawy sounds, for synth
solos
* Also a straight saw preset, for use with a talkbox
* Durable, as it will be used in live situations

That's basics. Apart from that, it would be nice if it had
an old school and unique sound. I know it's not very
concrete, but i dont' know much about synths, and i'm lost
and don't know where to start.

Do you want one with a keyboard or just the sound generation
engine itself?
Want lots of knobs to twiddle or menus ok?
Want it to be able to sample sounds?
How much polyphony? (How many notes to play at once?)
Multitimbral? (Can make more than one type of sound at once
- like left hand plays flute sound, right hand plays brass
sound for example)
How much are you prepared to pay?

Good questions:

* I need one with a keyboard (So i can also use it as just a
straight up MIDI keyboard, and play solos live)
* A knob with pitch modulation would be nice. Knobs in
general, i don't like menus. But the knobs need not be much
more than a pitch slider, ADSR, and maybe a little simple
filter, if the higher frequencies sound to harsh
* The polyphony isn't strictly strictly necessary, but it
would be nice with just a little. (sounds ridiculous but it
could be like 3 note polyphony or something)
* It shall not be multitimbral
* Price range is around i guess... 200-1000$

If i pay 1000$ i expect it to do my landry as well.

never used one, but it looks like it ticks all the boxes.
Shame it looks ugly (to me at least)

I actaully think it looks pretty cool! And it's cheapish as
well.

I think the sh 201 would be a good place for a beginner to
start. I played one recently in a sam ash, only spent a few
minutes on it but I remember not really being blown away by
the sounds, but it's still pretty decent.

Sounds good. It's foremost to serve some very basic live
purposes, so the fact that the price is managable is good.

Creamware Minimax ASB
- can be obtained for only 400 euro (from 950 euro)
- easy to control
- sounds great for leads and bass (big Moog like sound)
- 6 voice polyphony
- no keyboard unfortunately but you can get those seperately

Yep, probably the widest sound palette of any synth made
today. ;)

Don't forget the midi fitted as standard too, oh and the
nice 6 octave keyboard.
