Watched this tonight and holy fucking mother of god, not
only was it probably the best movie ive seen recently (No
Country For Old Men) but definitely features the best acting
performance ive ever seen in my life from Daniel Day Lewis.
Alot of Kubrickian elements and style going on, I fucking
loved this shit. Im going to sleep now, goodnight.

i heard it was awesome, but all the hype dulled it, as
happens when there's an enormous amount of hype around a
movie.

I'm sold! Paul Thomas Anderson is great.

hmm, should we call him "a" radiohead? Or does that refer to
the fans? it's difficult.

I have seen it. Cinematography, direction, music, and acting
all top notch. The story itself I found to be slow at
points, muddled in others. I like the strangeness of it all,
but I can't say I liked it nearly as much as No Country For
Old Men.

I will watch it again on DVD.

(And hopefully Daniel Day-Lewis wins best actor for this
one)

No Country for Old Men ended very unsatisfactorily, could
have been a classic but they ballsed it up as usual.

i have to admit, despite the hype, i did absolutely love no
country, although i feel like it would have been a much
stronger movie if they had essentially cut tommy lee jones'
character from the film - he really did add much to what i
perceived to be the point of the film nor did he move the
story forward.

Saw the trailer on youtube- looks boring. Too many humans,
not enough muppets. I especially hate how movies reflect the
most modern technology. The telephone is invented and
suddenly a phone is ringing with SUSPENSFUL MUSIC,
blingablingabling, pick up slowly heeellllooooo..?
FFFAAARRTT in you EAR biznatch! And now the computer,
clickity clack COMPUTER SUSPENSE, this is morpheus, oh fuck
off. Besides if he was a true hacker he would have grabbed
the blue AND red pills and eaten simultaneously just to see
what would happen. I was so happy all those years ago when
the big bang happened, I was like yes... everything
exploded. Then all this stupid shit had to evolve from it.
That was supposed to destroy everything not create
stuff!

Jonny Greenwood is really godlike he is really good modern
composer. Without him radiohead would suck big time
probably

This soundtrack is just as good as the one before bodysong
and you have to check "smear" and "popcorn superhet
receiver" really good stuff

man, the original tracklist for this soundtrack finished
with Smear.

I loved There Will Be Blood. Best closing line of any
movie, evar, in the history of movies. And the rest was
good, too.

there will be blood is so very different from his other
films except for the ending. i'm a *huge* pta fan, owning
all of his films from hard eight to punch-drunk love, and
even though this film is very different i think it's
obviously his best. see it as soon as you can.

Still regard no country as thee best film ive seen since
shawshank redemption,

there will be blood is a strange one, not alot happens but
your hooked from the beggining, d-day lewis is absolutely
outstanding as usual, without the soundtrack i would'nt have
enjoyed so much

shawshank redemption is so overrated i think, i really want
to see his new film though, the mist... again based on a
Stephen King novel

found this very boring, but with great acting and a great
soundtrack that unfortunately didn't fit any of the scenes.

6/10

yeah, i thought the use of the soundtrack was both godardian
and reminiscent of kubrick.

day-lewis' next role involves him playing a mortician. He's
going to kill himself to prepare for the character.

It's great. My favorite movie this year. It reminds me a
lot of Scarface except the cocaine is Black Black Black.

of course there are a few other differences too.

amazing acting, but overall i thik i liked all PTA's movies
more than this one. There will be blood was just way too
serious and over dramatic, i like his earlier movies that
were infused with a lot of humour and quirkiness, especially
Punch drunk love

pta said he wanted people to laugh at key scenes in there
will be blood. 'i'm your brother . . . from another mother'
comes to mind.

yeah i thought there were a lot of 'comical' scenes. the
final scene starts very comically, with him literally drunk
in a gutter, and continues to be almost like slap-stick
comedy. But it retains this sense of impending doom which i
think makes the climax even more unsettling.
