I need cool edit pro 2.0... Does anyone know where I could
get it for free?...I know it was bought by Adobe, and is now
Adobe Audition...But I was familiar with this particular
version and would love to have it again...And I have no
money....

you could try audacity. it's free and pretty good. interface
is slightly different to cooledit, but easy enough to pick
up. It's more like cooledit in multitrack mode in
operation.
stacks of good effects built in (much better than the long
in the tooth cooledit ones)

well, it's good enough for me to use as my audio editor now.
I do miss a couple of features of my 1997ish cooledit pro,
but ive moved away from windows to linux and blah blah
blah.

I can't justify using illegal copies of software now I have
money.
Anyway, audacity is well worth trying. I'm quite impressed
with the speed of it compared to cooledit too. (I'm not sure
if my copy is even compiled for multi core utilisation)
