Great, great band. Their two LPs still sound fresh more than a decade later. If 'Dummy' was released yesterday, no-one would've rised an eyebrow in terms of outdated production. I can't really think of many electronically based artists/bands of the early to mid 90s who weren't slaves to the production styles of their time. Portishead were truly original.
God, their albums were so dark and fucked up. I love them.

I remember getting into a conversation with a hobo on the train platform of Chester station during the mid 90's about Portishead. He also really liked them.

I remember hearing Machine Gun for the first time at ATP festival, where Portishead were headlining and it the song really cool. But other than that there were a little boring live, tbh.
I like Portishead in general, though.
