Has anyone ever heard of Coil?
John Balance, the tongue of the group, mentioned something
about releasing some of RDJ's works on their Threshold House
label. Does anyone know anything about this?
Their album 'Musick to Play in the Dark Vol.II' is
beautiful. I've never heard anything like it. Apparently
Thighpaulsandra(synthesizer wizard and long-time Julian Cope
contributer)is an occasional member..

I also heard one of the Autechre boys talking about how
Coil's music used to drive them mad when they were tikes and
that they were planning on remixing some of their work in
the near future..

They were a big influence on Michael and Marcus of Boards of
Canada too.
Which records do you have?

If you like Coil's ambient stuff check out "the sea
priestess" from "astral disaster". It's sooo beautiful...

I really dig coil. Thighpaulsandra is no longer with them
though. Record lable stuff got in the way and I think he's
back as a touring member of Spiritualized. Autechre are
remixing a track on an upcoming Coil box set I believe. I
only have 'Worship the Glitch' and 'Musik to Play in the
Dark I & II' but I would like more. Unfortunatly they are
quite expensive and I am a cheap bastard.

The most cost efficient place I've found to order their
music via the internet is http://www.strangefortune.com
Really good prices and cheap shipping.
-Thighpaulsandra is still with them, he's just on leave
touring with Spiritualized so he can pay his heating bill.
Have you heard his 'I, Thighpaulsandra' album? Probably my
favorite record of last year.
I also recommend you get Time Machines and Black Light
District by Coil.

I agree, Astral Disaster is another one you should pick up.
I especially like the album artwork...I think it was done by
Steven Stapleton aka the notorious Nurse With Wound.

you can download a liveset-mp3 here:

correctly you can get in.
(there's a little (part Dutch)interview in the beginning)

I'm glad to hear Thighpaulsandra is still with coil. He is
one of my favourite artists right now. I hope I'll be
seeing him up close and personal when Spiritualized comes to
town in a month or so.

thanks just the same.

Trev-If you do end up attending make sure to scream his name
out before the show starts!
