MY MUSIC -- first live show and upcoming EP

Organ Grinder from from er........... wherever. on 2001-06-12 15:41 [#00009375]

I am looking forward to my first live show VERY much. It is
Saturday, June 16th at 8:30 pm at CDX. (an indie music
store) I also finished recording my first EP yesterday --
the D-Pantothenol EP.
It's tough to describe its sound -- just consider it
electronica.

Track List:
1. D-Pantothenol -- ambient hardcore track
2. Katrina -- fast hip-hop (drum n bass?) track
3. Jawjaze -- 3/5ths jazzy swing track, 1/5th analog noise
4. Marzapan Jam -- bass track. over an industrial/braindance
rhythm.
5. 52801 -- mY Best song ever. Almost pop but not quite.

I have NO lyrics.

This EP was produced by my friend Brian White -- he's an
audio GENIUS! - too bad he's moving to Houston to study
music engineering..... : ( -- but he got a fully paid
scholarship.

I sent a HORRIBLE cassette demo of my works to Planet Mu
Records. (U-Ziq's label) I also sent my computer-written
music (written under the alias Audioblender) to Rephlex on
CD. I hope either of them respond.

Here's the addy to my shitty web page.

Aron? from Canada on 2001-06-12 19:17 [#00009394]

Me and my friend Dave played at my school a while ago, it
was our first show ever. It was terrible!! everyone was
just sitting around whille we were playing, then the speaker
blew up and people we're complaining. and the vice principal
told us to play some good music! ach, it wasn't a good
experence

Chris Ochre from Newcastle, UK. (www.mp3.com/ochre) on 2001-06-12 19:56 [#00009396]

Good luck with the live show, OG!
I've thought about putting on a show soon too, but I don't
know how to go about it. Most of my gear is in my PC, so it
wouldn't be much of a show. Plus I'm a bit apprehensive
about taking my only PC onstage.

Good luck anyway,

Chris.

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-12 20:58 [#00009398]

thanx for all the replies. I appreciate it. Luckily i AM
using someone else's speakers so if they blow up i'm not
losing anything ... ooh ... but then they'd probably kick my
ass.

cheech wizard from cloudcuckooland on 2001-06-12 22:57 [#00009413]

brake a leg me ol china!

hexane from Melb on 2001-06-13 03:42 [#00009436]

Aron->were you trying to 'move' the dancefloor
i could never imagine playing at my school- ahh, a
nightmare. everone's so closed-minded

Aron? from Canada on 2001-06-13 03:52 [#00009438]

Well, me and my friend weren't actully putting on a "show"
it was actully a DJ set. We tried to play stuff that people
would like (ex: Westbam or Fatboy slim), but people weren't
really diggin' the dance stuff so we started to play some
mainstream style hip hop (ex: Run-DMC or Beasties) people
still weren't liking it, so we ended up playing a bunch of
punk stuff like NOFX and Strung Out.l Still nobody was
dancing (there were only 40 people that showed up anyways!).
Luckily we didn't have to pay for the blown speaker!

ACH!

hopefully the next live gettogether i do will be more
successful.

rob fragilenine from ... on 2001-06-13 06:38 [#00009448]

i used to play guitar and sing in a hard rock/metal/punk
band and nobody really liked us. we had one poppy song that
everyone liked, but when it came to everything else, they
hated it... they told us to play some dance stuff, which is
hard with a real drummer, so i quit that band and started my
own industrial/dance/idm/metal/electronica project... we're
doing our 1st show soon (hopefully) and we're gonna rock...

Gary on 2001-06-13 09:50 [#00009466]

Best of luck; blow their heads off :)

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-06-13 14:57 [#00009479]

Mr. Organ: just to let you know...if you read Rephlex's
thingy about sending them audio demos...they will most
likely only listen to MiniDiscs. Go on their site and
read...just for everyone really.

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-06-13 14:58 [#00009480]

Good luck too...I didn't want to come out sounding like a
bloated jackal w/that previous response:)

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-06-13 18:36 [#00009508]

Me and my friend made a dj set for our high school not long
ago...

it was great!

we got 500 kr each!

(60-70 dollars)

the music consisted mostly of Barry white, daft punk and old
classics. thats the shit you wanna play!

windowlicker is a floor filler!

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-13 22:01 [#00009519]

i'm not really a dj. i program my beats onto drum machines,
have them run, and then i play all of my melodies and pad fx
live. it's different, i know. my music is sort of a mix of
soft ambient melody over hard, various styles of beats.

po{e} from the uk on 2001-06-13 22:09 [#00009521]

hmm, i like that style, do you mean a more of an orb way, or
mike p?

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-13 22:20 [#00009526]

it's more of a braindance style really. I can't afford
sequencers so i play my melodies by hand on keyboard. I
guess it's more of a.... well to be honest i haven't heard
enough of mike p to know if i'm like him or not......... i
used to do all my music on computer but i got tired of that
quickly....

evolume from seattle washington usa on 2001-06-14 06:05 [#00009572]

oh shit Aron,
that is funny shit.
i played a show at my old high school once too. it was when
we made like industrial noise shit and the sound sucked and
my bass drum broke and this 15 year old girl started
stalking me afterward.
moral of the story,
never play a show at your high school
they never understand.
*sniff* *sniff* *sob*

Organ Grinder from from er........... wherever. on 2001-06-14 14:38 [#00009635]

i'm thinking of making a cd using my miscellaneous noise
collection on my computer and making continuous floating
ambient noise tracks to play in the background.

dingle berry from on a small plastic chair breathing fire on 2001-06-14 16:02 [#00009659]

organ grinder dude, me and my bro both played our first live
gig the other day under the name "the mingle brothers" it
was ok except for the milkybar kid in huge specs who came up
to me halfway through the set and asked me to play some "ard
oose" i think he meant hard house but you can never be to
sure with these country folk apart from him and a few of my
buddies gurning like freeks it was a brilliant night live
beat manipulation is the way forward for sure keep up the
good work!!!!!!!

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-14 17:38 [#00009673]

thanx for the kind word. i might put an EP or something on
Napster soon. Probably 52801 or D-Pantothenol.

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-16 07:37 [#00009930]

My first live show is SATURDAY NIIIIIIIGHT!!!!! I CAN'T

po{e} from the uk on 2001-06-16 15:10 [#00009951]

heh, you miss good tv is you from uk....

actually tv sucks, i watched it for the first time in 3
weeks last night.....some crap about gothic faggots making
love....

internet = far superior, except comedy, tv pisses on the
internet when it comes to comedy, eg, the comedy amesty
international looks hilarious

Conveniant Anonamous on 2001-06-16 16:18 [#00009960]

Hey Organ Grinder: I went to your web site and noticed what
a complete fucking rip-off the names of your tunes are.
You look like a right cunt as well.
D'you call that a beard????? FUCK OFF

po{e} from the uk on 2001-06-16 18:06 [#00009968]

see my point, we need a members section (with the ability
for phob to block people) this idiot needs to be taught a
lesson.....

evolume from seattle washington usa on 2001-06-17 05:26 [#00010020]

heh heh
that WAS pretty funny though.
anyone who takes offence to comments like that is too
fragile to be any kind of performer anyway.

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-17 07:16 [#00010027]

true, evolume, true. Anyways they're just words. And he has
his own opinions anyways. I'm always open to criticism, as
most artists must be. :) But why he would comment on such
trivial things as my facial hair is beyond me. :)

Well, anyways i just finished my live show and it sorta
sucked in the first two tracks, but then i busted out with
my favorite and best track and from then on everything went
quite smoothly. The floating ambient noises worked much
better than I thought they would.

But i really need to get rid of my fucking Casio CTK -- that
thing is a piece of shit!! But the CT is alright, at least
it has a nice clean ambient sound.

But some WEIRD stuff happened today before my show. Last
night, i had a dream that someone had pawned off some my
equipment, and when i tried to get it back, the storeowner
beat the shit out the equipment and destroyed it. It was
horrible.

And then, right before i set up, i realized i had forgotten
my power strip/extension cord that i needed to plug
everything into.... typical. So i had to haul ass back home
to get it. But other than that the show went smooth and i
hope to learn from my experience.

I also plan to upload some tracks to my page soon.... if i
can get the fucker to work. (Angelfire sucks ass!!!!!!!!)

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-17 17:38 [#00010066]

i want to release something ... soon. Unfortunately
everybody seems to be closed-minded about my music. Even my
friends.

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-17 18:13 [#00010069]

PAGE UPDATED!! I Have a song on there now.

I CANT GET THE MUSIC TO WORK!

Actually i was looking cinda forward to listening to you´r
shit!!!

:)

fix it puhlease!

rob fragilenine from comment on 2001-06-18 01:51 [#00010101]

none of my friends really like my new stuff (the idm stuff),
they just pretend they like it, like 'it's not too bad rob'.
i wouldn't even try to give them some of my ambient pieces,
because they're all into fast, heavy, and popular music...

Ross from can. on 2001-06-18 02:56 [#00010109]

my friends and a lot of people seem to like my music, and
it's not really accessible, just different..I used to worry
about letting people hear some of it (well my 4th cd at
least, dark and angry, kinda fueled by a political confusion
at the time) and it was just a parallel to my
personality..I'm sure you guys will understand this, when
you're a normally happy person, but your art is darker, i
guess that's just expression. Some people say it sounds like
aphex, but it doesnt, a lot of people havent really gave
electronic music like that the time of day, so it's an easy
reference point.

Aron? from Canada on 2001-06-18 04:45 [#00010112]

I don't like letting my friends listen to my stuff, they're
into punk and hip-hop, and I usually make drum'n'bass,
ambient and downtempo type stuff.

dingle berry from on a small plastic chair breathing fire on 2001-06-18 08:54 [#00010127]

mr organ grinder dude do you use a sequncer at all,
its cool that your gig went ok,
ive got another one coming up soon its an outside hippy
festival so i think the ambient trip out crew will most
definateley be there, i think the tunes on your site are
v/good but have you got any cut off knobs or independant
flanger controlls?
theres nothing more satisfying than to be able to twiddle
with live efx and the live twiddle actually makes your synth
tunes less robotic and more natural sounding, the corrective
lenses tune is worthy of a remix, most definately, what have
you mastered your set/gig too or is it all in the machines?

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-18 17:59 [#00010177]

well, i run my drumlines solely through drum machines. All
my keyboards i play live. I run my equipment through a PA
Mixer so i'm able to twiddle with the basic three levels
(bass, mid, treble) and i also have a few cd's of floating
ambient noise i made on computer on a cd. I'll play that
through a cd player in the background and sometimes it fits
and comes together really well. I'll probably have a live
track up soon so you can hear what i'm talking about.

Fragilnine, Aron, i know how you feel. My friends seem to be
just saying "needs improvement." They're afraid to say that
they think i suck. But other people seemed to REALLY enjoy
it. So the opinions were half n' half.

I don't have a sequencer yet, but i plan to get one soon. I
use a guitar processor with knobs to add flange, phasing,
distortion, reverb to my music when i feel like it. I plan
to use it more but i didn't use it during my show because i
was short an amp cord. :(

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-18 18:05 [#00010179]

SWAI, i think you need QuickTime, RealPlayer or some shit
like that, some sort of plug-in to hear it. Dingle Berry
said he heard it.

Months ago, i had a few comp-generated sound bytes on my
site, and they ran through QuickTime, so i'm sure that's
what you'll need. :)

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-06-18 19:17 [#00010231]

Oh..

maybe i have an old version or some shit.

maybe ill just buy that ep when it comes out

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-19 06:35 [#00010313]

i would if i had a credit card.

*cries*

damn, i'm poor by american standards, but hey that makes me
better off than at least 70 percent of the world, so i'm not
complaining. :)

all i have by bogdan is "samurai math beats." i plan to get
either boku mo wakaran or ibiza anthems vol 4 next.

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-06-19 16:12 [#00010360]

hey SWAI -- i found out what was up. I have a JavaScript
do-hickey script whatever the fuck it is that turns my
pop-ups (including ad banners, tee-hee) off. So i
accidentally put it on all my pages, but i realized i just
needed it on my welcome page.

Good news, the sound files apparently work with Real Player
as well, so check them out, SWAI!! :)

By the way all, if you wanna hear my music, here ya go:
