Don't know if you guys have discovered this yet, but it's
the best time-waster on the internet. I just found "The
Adventures of Willy Beamish" (an oldskoool dos game that
used to come bundled with Gateway computers) on here, and
have been playing it a bit. It's such a shitty fucking game,
and the music is shitty as well. A real fucking waste of
time. Try it out!

Commander keen is up there, as well as other adventure point
and click and grab and use handkerchief with sultan who is
on fire games.

Post if you find anything good!

I've downloaded every game they have, I think.

Good ones:

Covert Action
The Incredible Machine (TIM) games
Populous 2

..and so many more, but I don't have the time to write them
down, and it's more fun to find stuff on your own, etc etc.

You can also use google. I found 'battle chess' awhile ago.
Then I realized I suck at and hate chess. Rogue is a really
old fun game due to randomness even though its impossibility
makes it.. impossible. And there's practically no freakin
swords. Sam and max was great as I remember from long ago
anyway. If you like it similar games are full throttle and
day of the tentacle. kings quest 1,2,3 were great before
they started getting gay. I like the music in kings quest
1:
boo bee boop................. bee boo
boop......................... (repeat)

interesting... does that mean that different rules apply to
console and PC versions? let's phone konami and ask... or
not.

i like abandonware... i did 5 years ago... but at some point
you realize there are only so many dysfunctional horizontal
scrollers and pointless point'n'click adventures that you
can try "out of curiosity" before realizing they suck.
Granted, there are some true classics there, but beware:
many of them are stripped down to some extent, including MGS
and other "CD-rips". Also, they don't provide many popular
games anymore (like LucasArts) because of copyright issues.

Still, a worthy cause and a good site. But remember, just
googling some old games will probably give you a more
extensive list of choices, across dozens of websites.

neverhood! thats a good one....

theres a really strange one called "the dark eye" which
features music by thomas dolby, and some voice overs by
william S. burroughs... its by infocom... the same people
who did freak show and bad day on the midway (which was
pretty much a collaborative art project between the
developers and the Residents... released on ralph records i
think... i really love SOME of the residents' music so this
is a real find). pretty strange interface, but neat in a
myst-y sort of way. It's basically an interactive retelling
of 3 of poe's murder mysteries from both the victim and
victimizer. neat concept.

from the point of view of both the victim and victimizer etc
etc

I used to download all the old PC games--then I realised
that I would never ever play them.

All this talk of abandonware has caused me to yearn for some
classic GTA 1&2 gaming.. I've just become aware that
Rockstar is hosting them for free if you provide an address
(which you can just enter a fake).

Have at it if you're interested.
