Headache remedies?

I've had this headache for the last 5 hours. I've drank 3
litres of water and had 600mg of "headache relief" pills, to
no avail. Are there parasites in my brain ?

I usually pull the skin away from my skull, and pull my
eyelids away from my eyes.

well what kind of headache is it?

it it were a regular headache id say 600 mg of ibuprofen but
im guessthing thats what the 'headache relief' pills were.
try eating something as well as upping the water intake?

if it feels more in the front of your head/between your eyes
its prolly a sinus headache. either taking decongestants
(diphenhydramine) or some hot (spicy-hot) food should do the
trick. maybe pop a big chunk of wasabi in your mouth and
mush it around a bit.

It's "centrally located" if that makes any sense. It's not a
sinus headache. I partied last night, drank and smoke, but
I've drank so much water that if it was just dehydration
from alcohol consumption, I think it would have cleared up
by now (3 litres is a lot of water to drink in 4 hours). I
really am starting to wonder if there is something wrong
with me. I get headaches like this fairly often, though to
be fair, they're often preceded by drinking and/or smoking.

nope... I had heard that caffeine is only a temporary
solution, anyway.. It supposedly helps for a while but
eventually the headache comes back, often more sever? That's
what my neighboor said, at least.

You can get a headache (or make it worse) by drinking lots
of water... I often make that mistake, and regret it, cos I
get dehydrated quite easily. I don't get "proper" headaches
very often, so I'm not really an expert on the subject
matter. Also, I never take medication, especially headache
pills.

I know it's not a good idea to take tylenol and things of
that sort, but I really start to break down mentally when
I've got a really bad headache. I can't function at all and
start to curse my existence. I really do not have the
willpower to sit through a headache without taking some
excedrin or something.

I'm sorry to hear that your headaches are so bad; like I
said, I never really had many stinking headaches :-\

no, would that help? and if so, do you have one?

marlowe: thanks for the sympathy, man. I don't meant to
whine about my self-induced problems, I was just hoping
someone here might know a useful trick that I'm not aware of
for getting rid of them. I wouldn't normally even bring it
up here, it's just that this one is particularly
long-lasting, and it gets more annoying with each passing
hour. =/

well if it is indeed a hangover headache and youve already
hydrated yourself and taken 600 mg of ibuprofen the only
thing i could reccomend would be a big greasy hamburger.

and a cup of coffee!!! one cup wont make it worse.

no no coffee at all. it just flushes out more magnesium out
of your body that you really need right now.

my always working hangover remedy - 2 tablets of alka
seltzer + 1 tablet magnesium + 1 tablet calcium in one
glass. hold your nose and drink it. you'll be fine within 15
minutes.

also you need vitamins - orange juice is great. apples are
great. oranges too. get them.

for normal headaches ibuprofen works the best in my case.
anything on paracetamol makes me puke and aspirin somehow
doesn't work at all or very slow.

offline sadist from the dark side of the moon on 2007-11-25 15:25 [#02147775]

woah

also - have rest and don't do anything physical - it makes
it worse. better lie down and lay yourself a wet towel on
the head

thanks for the suggestions guys. I was thinking I should
have taken ibuprofen, as I have that, too, but I've already
taken 600mg of "equate headache relief" which is the generic
form of excedrin. I won't be taking anymore pills, today. I
need to drink some juice (would 'white grape' do anything
useful? that's what I've got), and I'll scrounge around for
a vitamin jar in the cupboard, as well. Can magnesium
tablets be purchased at the average grocery store?

Try to get as many vitamins as possible from actual food
instead of pills. Vitamins in pills are less effective, and
it can even (possibly; new research, so nothing conclusive)
be bad for you.

try n eat something before bed next time and force yourself
to drink a couple of glasses of water.

if your smoking tobacco?.give it up. its freaking pointless
, each packet funds abuse ,terrorism and destroys your
chance of a healthy later life., if you smoke green, it
makes it far more pleasurable if you do give it up.

i don't anything but fruit n veg now. hahaha its Awesome!

im assuming theres supposed to be an eat somewhere in that
last sentence.

and if you mean that i hope you know youre going to become
delirious and eventually die from protein defficiency if all
youre really eating are fruits and vegies.

yep there was suposed to be the word 'eat.' , well spotted.

o.k., pulses too and may i add water and oxygen into the mix
if we gonna get pedantic? chick peas , nuts ,beans . protein
is easy :)

Thank you all for your concern. :) I'm feeling much better
today. I've decided to take it easy with the drinking for a
while, as I think that it might be the leading contributor
to these headaches I've been getting.

fruits, which was my concern.
