I would build one (I nearly built an arcade cabinet at
highschool as a DT project!), but I think I'll save them
pennies and get an x-arcade & dreamcast adaptor...

Haha, no, though Kate is one of my fave game characters. The
game would be good even without her though. No, seriously, I
have no time. I do all these travels these days and I have
no time to do almost anything else. PLus I suck at all the
games that actually demand skills....

I'm the opposite there... I have no time to get into
games... it's these old games that you can just load up and
play straight away!

Because I don't have much time for any newer type games.

Yeah, OK, I just love immersing myself in games that have a
good story and everything else that goes with it. Agreed, my
social life, book-reading and house tasks suffer for it,
but, hell, you only have one life.

I am not back exactly. I mean, I will not be in the office
tomorrow again. Well, we have a programme consultant from
Canada here at the moment, so I have to do field visits with
her every couple of days and then, when I am back in the
office, there's a lot of work to catch up with, so I have no
time for this MB. However, I am happy to see you are doping
just fine without me... If only you'd discuss some porn here
and there...

I was just reading online about fast & slow bullets in
berzerk. Anyone know how this is changed? (doesn't appear to
be dip switch settings...) We're using rom set 2 BTW :)

ROM set 2 is just a clone of 1 right... I've been using set
1.

I havent noticed any difference... but I have been doing
better in set 2... funny that :-s

btw, good score that, it gets too freakin' psycho at that
amount of points... almost enough to give you a heart
attack! ;)

I got it when I was smashed last night. I was reading online
that after 10,000 points it pretty much becomes a game of
chance...

BTW all, it's well worth reading the tips at mame.dk
relating to this game... you'll vastly increase your score
if you follow them (I did -first game after reading and my
score was *3 :) )

Princo, you beaten yours yet?

How're the rest of you doing?

Last night tonight! Get those scores to me tonight or
tommorow. BTW I can't prove that 7010 from the other night
as it didn't save it for some reason so I'm discounting it
(I honestly did get it though)... my highest provable score

1st: Me.
2nd: Giginger.

Any ideas on how to make this work better in future? Bigger
timescale? Wait longer before deciding on a game?

Maybe something that people are more firmilar with, perhaps
on a console....

and even worse (for me) a more recent one...

MAME would of been a little tricky to come by for most
people I think.

We'd need a game nearly everyone had access to or that waas
at least easily downloadable. Maybe make a self extracting
zip with the appropriate emu & rom available in the at.nu
FTP site if we asked nicely?

Any ideas of games? Like you say, mame might be too geeky
for most people...

Which sample is it that 54 cymru beats uses?

I think something most people will of already played might
be a good idea, level the playing field a bit... perhaps NES
super mario brothers 1?

Ophecks at least would almost certainly get involved then ;)

The Sample when you get shot in Berzerk, have a listen to
that next time you play it and listen to 54 Cymru Beats.

It's slotted in there.

Ah, I think I know the one. I'll have a listen tonight.

I play arcade machines too. Mainly only old ones. There was
a record store down an alley where I went to university that
had a metal slug machine in the back :)

I hadn't played it in the arcade for years-I thought the
slowdown was just in the emulated version. The guy in store
seemed amazed at how long I was playing it for (only 2
credits and I was on for well over 10 mins). I love
practicing on emulators then getting hi scores on an arcade
machine...

New challenge Princo has proposed is highest score with 1
credit on Wonder Boy. Run a recent version of MAME and put
the settings to easiest.

All welcome, contact me for a copy of the game if you need
it.

Please post here if you're going to take part.

Cheers,

Ceri.
