Yes it's great--have you seen the sequel--I've heard it's
even better, but I've never been able to track down a copy

mcdowells role in this one really stigmatized him, ie
badguy. although really he isn't a badguy in this film.

I would say his role in A Clockwork Orange stigmatised him
much more in that way..
