I rather call it fucking ambitious music. U must be "a fucking stupid nerd" spending 3 weeks on a hihat. It aint got nothing to do with intelligence, its just that some peoples got a short attention span. I am too lazy to sit 10 hours a day working on the same beat, and yes it aint hard to make drill n base or glitchy ae stuff but it definitly takes time, believe me. I am a fucking nerd, so I know what im talking about, so u just shut up. I also admire one of the best "ambitious nerd muscicians" in the world none other than Aphex Twin. In a interview with Luke Vibert he said that RDJ was a little to ambitious spending like 3 months on a drum loop. THATS WHAT I CALL some fucking ambitious, dedicated music making!!!!! I aint that dedicated (im still a nerd tho, hanging here 24 hour a day) I creat dope ass music tho (not godly music as aphex tho) nah mean. I admire RDJ for his heart and passion. U can hear that he puts in a lot of work nah mean. Just listen to Ziggomatic v17??? did that track take time to do Or FUCKING what!? yeah I was a little sarcastic too, but anyway. |

2 maybe 3 points I'd like to make. 1) I went along quite happy and oblivious thinking IDM meant Industrial dance music. And there is such a thing as Industrial techno, so it can't be a bad thing I suppose, like killing two birds with one stone. Sure enough I did sit looking at it for a long time without the foggiest idea of what it meant but that is by the by I guess. 2) I was wondering this a while back now. I used to have heaps of tapes with mixes on them the majority of which said things like good mix, voice mix, shit mix etc but I had allot of Oldschool mix. So if there was old School then there was?... whatever Basically is IDM the new cool? 3) Finally! This is where I want to go off in a bit of a strop. My friend was heavily into computers AND music (listening to ) We used to sit and listen together and he made this point "you know it's funny but I don't hear this music as you do" me "Why" him " because I have all the knowledge of how it's made in my head " " oh yes, but does that mean it's better for you?" He just smiled back. The obvious example would be feeling nostalgic for samples from games. But I like to believe it runs deeper than this. I am right aren't I? |
