what is some good "my bloody valentine" to start off with?
(tracks or albums)

Loveless is a great album to start with. It's also
essential for any collection.

Now that I've had time to give them more listening, Loveless
has turned out to be my least favorite MBV album... I find
it too noisy. Isn't Anything and Ecstacy and Wine are more
to my liking.

Not that THEY aren't noisy, but I just like them more for
some reason.

Hm, I didn't think this BUMP out well enough.

Was blasting 'L/less' when most of you were filling
diapers!

:) Still a terrific LP,though.

no dude, seriously, like this friend of mine keeps asking me
"are you sure your dad wasn't in my bloody
valentine?" and i'm like "YES I'M SURE" and she's like "but
you said your dad was in a band" and i'm like "FUCKING....
HE'S WASN'T IN MY BLOODY VALENTINE, HE WAS IN THE LAUGHING
BOYS"

I like the noisiness of loveless, but I'll agree that
compositionally it's not the best. For example, I really am
not a huge fan of some of tracks, and I can't stand
'Sometimes' no matter how hard i try to like it.. ugh!! It
IS unmateched in some respects though.. 'Touched', 'I Only
Said', 'Blown a Wish'.. divine.. 'Isn't Anything' is tops
though.. every track is great.

heh, it was supposed to be a lame joke... obviously... no
one's sense of humor is that bad... :)

Anyone who likes early MBV should check out Jesus and Mary
Chain's "Psychocandy" as well.

Sadly, their US label dropped their back catalogue. On the
good side, though, look for all their albums to start
showing up in the cut-out bins for $1.99.
