Aphex Twin will never release a album again.

Arch Rival from USA (New York) on 2001-05-31 18:58 [#00007752]

I just read that in a interview. Why should he release
another album when hes on top of the electronic game?
He was on the top of his career when he released Come To
Daddy and then Windowlicker. He also said when he released
Richard D James album that he was only going to release 2
more records ever.

I he never release a album again he will be remembered as
the greatest electronic artist of all time and got nothing
to loose, but if he release another album and people hates
it he will not be the best.

I dont think he ever will release somehing again...what yall
think?

Arch Rival from USA (New York) on 2001-05-31 19:01 [#00007753]

Look at other artists who only dropped subpar average albums
after the best shit, they arent legends anymore.

He told a friend that he only released music to make a
living (now he got enough money) and wouldnt release any
more records.

He will still make music though,he said music is his life
and he will create music forever until he meets the
grimreaper.

po{e} from the uk on 2001-05-31 19:06 [#00007754]

your right grim, he will just do dj sets now, i doubt he
will do much more, although if he makes some shit hot stuf,
he will probaBly release it

po{e} from the uk on 2001-05-31 19:07 [#00007755]

why did i call you grim, sorry arch rival

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-05-31 19:13 [#00007756]

Yeah i guess you´re right, cause Richard never lies in an
interwiew.....

pessimists......

I think you can only desperatly want some new aphex twin if
you have all of his records, and all records from
rephlex....

mind that if some of that rephlex shit said "aphex twin"
people would say that it was brilliant (more than it is said
now)

i recomend:
bogdan raczynski
dmx krew
cylob
global goon
yee-king

do yourself a favor, check them out.....

Arch Rival from USA (New York) on 2001-05-31 20:24 [#00007764]

Yeah I can feel what you sayin Poe..

If he creates some tracks that is out of this world, then he
will definitly release them, but if its just some electronic
music that all this other wannabes, mp3.com etc artists has
copied and not some other shit he will not release it.
´No disrespect to those artists on mp3.com (some of them
are amazing, like Mr Projectile etc) but theres too many
that just tries so hard to immitate the AFX sound and not
being original.

I think AFX wants to come with something new, and maybe he
knows that theres to many that aint ready for it so he
thinks I dont give a fuck...

Arch Rival from USA (New York) on 2001-05-31 20:27 [#00007765]

thanx SWAI. I already got some Samurai shit from bogdan
raczynski (hes CREATIVE!!!)
dmx krew is DOPE!! I got that hidden love track plus the
remix.
Cylob I like a lot and that Muziq remix of one his tracks is
amazing!.

I got to chek global goon???
Who is Yee-king, should I chek him out?

Theifofalways from my flat in the middle of germany on 2001-05-31 20:40 [#00007766]

From everything Ive read, he's got hours and hours of
unreleased stuff that he chose not to put on his albums.
Right now they are starting to reissue some of the older
stuff in the states where people are getting in to Aphex.
Even if he just released some older stuff Id be happy,
though I read an interview with him a little while ago where
he mentioned some of the software he's creating and the
already existing software he uses. I reckon his new stuff
will be wicked and 2 or 3 steps ahead of everybody else, but
I agree with you guys in that he releases stuff for a living
and probably is just into DJing, I know if I could just do
that and live in a bank, I damn sure would.

Quoth from Lincoln on 2001-05-31 22:17 [#00007773]

Maybe RDJ will learn how to play Jazz and learn how to
master the trumpet at jazz improv and he will be considered
the best trumpet player ever who also made fucking amazing
beats instead of harmonies. I think that would be cool:)

Just another Fan from here on 2001-05-31 23:04 [#00007778]

I just wanted to say that your logic is wrong arch rival, if
he doesn't release another album (which very well might
happen) than he will not be known as the greatest electronic
artist ever. He will for a while, but will eventually be
surpassed by many many artists who may give him credit for
pioneering this kind of intelligent electronica, but will
still be making electronic music 10 times better. Not to
insult the Twin but, doing something first soes not make you
the best at it for very long, people will follow in your
steps, change it, evolve it if you will until it is barely
recognizable as what it began as. It will have become
something new.

P.S I am a huge fan of RDJ but I know that time eventually
surpasses all and that Better artists will come out.

Springymajig from New Zealand (www.mp3.com/aureus) on 2001-06-01 07:57 [#00007814]

I'm constanly trying to copy Autechre and then I come up
with a song like the wob song. So that rule doesn't aply to
me.

I agree about aphex never releasing though. I reckon
everything he makes now no one will like, he may release
unreleased old stuff liek those Polygon Window trax.

\/\/ooÆ’erAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-06-01 08:52 [#00007821]

Richard is 29 years old, he's young!

I hope he don't think to release nothing more.
He has a mission on this earth, he must explore the infinite
universe of the sounds, he must countinue the search new way
of create impossible sound. He did it and I hope He'll do
it.

Richard surprise the world with a new amzing creation!!!

Arch Rival from NY on 2001-06-01 09:25 [#00007822]

I hope he will bless us again....

He loves music but not the industry, he has made enough
money so he dont care about that (ofcourse he cares about
money :) )

He has made like over 100 hours of music and he said if
someone wanted some shit just mail him at Rephlex records
and then maybe he would send some music??? sounds bizzare to
me but AFX seems to be a strange guy...

od from perth on 2001-06-01 13:58 [#00007865]

the fact that people go on about the fact that afx had hours
and hours of unreleased stuff kind of pisses me off.
i mean what artists here don't?
(of course i realise that his stuff is loads better than
mine......but thats not the point)

Lord Of The Beats from Norden on 2001-06-01 14:43 [#00007895]

hope he will release something again, not some half ass
leftovers like those tracks on the new Polygon Window album.
I want some new improved stuff.

SWAI from Denmark on 2001-06-01 20:01 [#00007925]

Ok, global goon is like a "warmer" "softer" squarepusher,
has some interesting sounds...

yee-king sounds like something daft punk thought was 2 weird
for "discovery"

nice to see someone else dig DMX krew !
he rocks

TekN010G from Australia on 2001-06-01 23:23 [#00007945]

What About the caustic window album,.. that's to be released
soon sometime isn't it?

Arch Rival from NY on 2001-06-02 00:10 [#00007946]

Gloobal Goon ROCKS DOPE TRACKS!!!!

Dirty Priest from Denmark on 2001-10-23 18:42 [#00044760]

this is a funny discussion. its pre drukqs...... well ...
look at the dates...

DMX krew still rock bad you know... hehe

Neo-Geo-Hippy-Tosser-Yeah whatever arsehole. on 2001-10-23 20:32 [#00044777]

my theory is that most of the tracks on drukqs are actually
the caustic window tracks..heh...just me though...anyways..i
could care less if afx released stuff nowadays..i mean,i
would still buy it,but there are so many other artists i
have discovered besides him..

helios from zurich-ch on 2001-10-23 20:44 [#00044781]

maybe, when he is independet form the music industry he
could bring new albums, when he wont? i dont know,
or he will bring his newer stuff in the web

Baron Von Picklefoot from My special place ! on 2001-10-23 21:35 [#00044795]

You still know Richard still has to bake me a cake before he
goes underground to live with the mole people !THE BARON HAS
SPOKEN!

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-23 21:38 [#00044798]

there may be no more aphex twin albums.
but he will continue to release afx material.
and yes some of the tracks on drukqs have been stated to be
over 7 years old by richard himself. i think drukqs is great
anyways

Henry from Sweden on 2001-10-23 21:43 [#00044804]

I like that he will only continue to make music for the real
fans (afx 12"s)

dronox from www.dronox.com on 2001-10-23 22:33 [#00044830]

I'll keep releasing music, don't worry guys.

dronox is here to help.

Oh, and henry, just because I don't own a turntable / can
afford vinyl doesn't mean I'm not a music fan / fan of
his... heh.

DblHeLX from moon on 2001-10-23 22:35 [#00044833]

who said only 12"?
i think he's gonna work at bringing afx to the same level as
aphex twin reached.
afx's stuff is less experimental sounding, so ill bet the
new stuff will kick us all in the pipes

Dave on 2001-10-24 00:12 [#00044869]

he's lying about never releasing another album. he's smart
enough to know what sells. the whole aphex mythology is
based on him being a few years ahead of everyone, especially
his admirers.

mayby orchestral music

evrything you can do with electronic music what is it 4-5
different styles and its mayby time for more advanced piano
tunes. And in a interwiew made about 1997 in swedish radio he
said he wanna do piano tunes composes in about 5 years

u really cant know waht goes on in an artists mind, or if he
still can kick ass,
we´ve seen a lot of artists burn out.
But take Zappa for example, he worked all over his entire
life and released albums til he dropped dead, i cant say he
was that innovative or developing, but when u take a look at
richard... richard really wants to get new skills i think,
djing is still developing and he always was into creating
new machines for his unique sound. so chances arent bad for
some future releases i think,
some tracks on drukqs have been old he said...fine, shows he
got the patience to show up with stuff when we are ready for
it, he´s aware of his genre-forming power and i dont care
if he puts some effort in his label first, rephlex rocks and
i´m thankful for putting out those great artists, the 99
dmx release on rephlex was the best ever and d´arcangelo
really kicks a lot of my favourite aphex styles (remembers
me of a warmer ab somtimes), and dont forget other artists
like squarepusher or cylob, this sound can be put forwrd by
these and other artists which is enough fun for now...
and when richard wants to take over the world again it´ll
be the right time for another quadruple-drug,
lets all wait and have a cup of
acid/electrolyte/drukqs/whatever u like, cheers

RDJ is generally full of shit. I wouldn't believe a fucking
word that comes from his mouth. Read some old interviews
from any period and he says he's going to do stuff and they
never transpire or they are changed.

Bearing in mind that the offshoot of rephlex has been set up
with the two remixes being the first release, it is my guess
that in 2003, SP and AFX will release on it. I read in an
interview with him that MEN records isn't the name, but the
catalogue number and it's intention was to release his and
toms shit.

But fuck knows, could all be a load of balls. I don't think
that he is always purposefully lying, but just changes his
mind an awful lot. No harm in that.

But he will definitely release more stuff. He is still, IMO,
at the top of his game, but he did get a general caning over
drukQs, fans and industry critiques alike. I mean, it was
probably the first time in his career that this has
happened. Just look at the way he took offence to what
Joyrex said! Touchy or what! There's no way he'll want his
final release to be one that some people aren't that keen
on. Again, in my opinion, i think drukqs will be a classic
in 5 years, in most people's eyes, it's just such a monster
that it will take that long for everyone to embrace it.

We have not seen the end of rdj - he won't resist it. I
reckon a few eps over the next three years and then one
mother fucker of an album which will end music as we know
it!!!!!!!!

IMO, whatever he says, he just can't stop making shit. He's
fuckin addicted to it. One might say - he'll produce but not
release... But methinks, even if it goes on so for some
time, once he'll 'occasionally' produce shit he'll want to
share...

...although i'm not sure he gives a slightest fuck of his
fans :s

btw, what about other aliases? maybe not afx, but some
polygon window, or pacman, or fuckman, or something?..

He's said that the name Aphex Twin is dear to him - but i
don't think anyone really cares about what he releases under
- i think the name AT is contractually owned by r+s records
or warp, but who cares, so long as he's banging out stuff!

(i don't remember any "fuckman" releases? ;)

yep, btw that could be the reason of this 'retiree' - maybe
some label rapes him for new records, and i bet he hates
being raped =)

hmmm... would you mind if he released as fuckman? I wouldn't
=)

imo, saying he's done everything he can with electronic
music is like saying somebody has done everything they can
with guitar, only more ridiculous. the equipment, the
computer, just instruments. there is no limit.

I personally can imagine him wanting to remain 'a legend'
and not repeat himself. I respect that I think that makes a
lot of sense. Anyway lets face he knows it, we know it,
Aphex Twin is the greatest electronic musician of all time.
I mean come on nobody can really touch him.

This is how I see it. If he does something and feels its
strong enough and different enough to release he'll do it.
But if it sounds passe then he probably won't. That said I
personally would be very happy to buy some of these
thousands of old tracks if released. I'll never get bored of
the old stuff like Polygon Window and new releases (of old
tracks that is) like that providing it doesn't flood the
scene would be very welcome.

he really hasnt released any "new" music in a long time.
keep in mind that drukqs is an amalgamation of almost 10
year old songs.
