Windowlicker...

I was just thinking, what if Rich had continued in the same
vein as Windowlicker, seems to stand out from any of his
other stuff. Perhaps just me, but it seems to have a
standard song structure-ish (totally unAphex) and be sort of
it's own genre, not quite trip-hop, not entirely IDM....
Anyone agree?

IDM does have structure.

Check out his electro mix "Primaversound" @ Elusives server

there is a nice version of windowlicker halfway, mixed in
with other similarly groovey tunes (by him) and you will
realise it is VERY aphex, i think.
I´m just saying that if you relly look and listen you will
see windowlickerness pepeered throughout his
discography.....
Mixing is a good way of appreciating the great tunes

.

I agree. I was really hoping that Drukqs was going to be
more like Windowlicker. I really like the album but just
expected something else.

GJ Xammax... Im completely with you on that one.....I think
windowlicker is a style of its own....and......I well.....I
liked it alot the first 6 months i listened to it....now its
a completet chapter in my book.....but I still think its a
noice song......but it doesn't give me the same feelings
that i get from for ex. Ziggomatic v17....I thing
windowlicker is more Mainstream and i think its easier to
like those songs....its something with windowlicker that
almost everyone like...
And im kinda gets bores after a while when listening to
those songs....Am I the only one??? Dont think so.....
I prefer song like mt saint michel and Ziggomatic....u know
the song that was hard to like from the beggining but whom
got better every time i listened to them.....Autechre
anyone?????
Well....this is just my oppinions....
"AND NONE OF THEM SHOULD BE TAKEN LIGHTY!!! hehe just
kidding =) .....
I'm out!!

Hmm...Windowlicker is most probably my favourite Aphex Twin
track. The fact that it's more mainstream doesn't bother me,
there's just something about it, it got me into Aphex Twin,
and also IDM, maybe that has something to do with why I like
it so much?

its amazing really. One video singlehandedly makes every
hip-hop video with dudes n chick n cars look like utter
SHIT. Windowlicker should be shown to every crappy gansta
rap type band and told "look......... whatever you´re gonn
do, don´t bother... richards already doen it and warped it
forever. try something new, lads"

Well then if it is POP, proof that not all pop is bad!
Actually, it is pop...it got to 16 in the UK Charts.

I find the more i listen to mt saint michael, the more
boring it gets...don't get me wrong...it sure as hell aint a
boring, I loved it at first and the more I listen to it, the
more it loses its appeal.

Windowlicker is very user friendly. It's one that all can
enjoy, even those who don't realy "get" aphex twin if you
know what I mean

I thought 'Windowlicker' and 'Come to daddy' where part of a
bet that he could do a 'pop song' and get it in the charts.
I remember watching top of the pops and seeing Aphex Twin at
number 18, had a clip of him with that cheeky watermelon
grin of his. }:>

Windowlicker is one of my favs - love the mastering and
production on the disc - best sound quality of any RDJ
release, bar none.

I'm still yet to get the E.P., I'm looking forward to
hearing Nannou.

I brought the E.P alone for Nannou and Equation.

I loved Come To Daddy. Funny in a bit of a piss-take fashion
and a great track to boot. Windowlicker I though was just
taking the piss too far. A great video, yeah, but the track
was just not cup of tea. *looks ashamed*

i love windowlicker... it proves that afx can do pop. "pop"
in the aphex twin sense of the word, of course. :)

thats so wrong...
i mean nolt anybody can get into windowlicker if they dont
know aphex...
its so strange, so aphex like...
am i stupid or what??
its just fucking disturbing and awesome, but it can be as
strange and difficult to get as ventolin for exemple, imo..

So what if Drukqs was a continuation from the Windowlicky
style? I would have liked it more, but it's still my
favourite Aphex release.

It's totally aphex like...

And yeah, equation and nannou are both hectic tracks! Best
aphex money spent yet! (Maybe that's takin it a lil far, but
still money good spent)
