dunno how many of you have heard of Michael Moore's (director of Bowling for Columbine) book 'Stupid White Men' but for the NEW year i purchased his calander of Quotes from the book (for me and my BF) and i thought i'd share a few gems with all YA'LL =0)
btw....it's mainly a commentary on the state of the US, so it may not make as MUCH sense to the EURO's around here.
***************** Freedom of choice is a thing of the past. We're down to six media companies, six airlines, two and a half carmakers, and one radio conglomerate. Everything you need is at Wal-Mart. You can choose between two political parties that sound alike, vote alike, and are funded alike. How did all this happen? Three little words: Stupid White Men.

i purchased the book for my boyfriend (i'm planning on borrowing it when he's done reading it)
moore's so great because he says things that NEED to be said about the state of things. he asks HARD questions that people don't wanna really think about.
i admire his honesty!
bowling for columbine is one of my TOP 10 movies for 2002.....it should be shown to every highschooler IMO.

Marilyn Manson made more sense in that movie than anyone else Moore interviewed.
Every high school student should get a brief counseling session with him.

Yeah he is certainly better talking than singing. :-) I used to enjoy his appearances on Bill Maher.
I'll check for those clips later at home...

marilyn manson also is a cheap fucker behind his mask, though saying 'i had listened to them [the columbine kids] 'cause thats what nobody did' was one of the most intelligent things in the movie

ohhhhh me and my BF watched the entire season one weekend......it's a GREAT show, and yes it's a bummer it's no longer on the air.
thing about michael is he's not afraid to step on peoples TOES.......however the powers behind the shows ARE......so that lead to their eventual demise.
too much honesty can't be handled by some....unfortunately. =/

One thing I don't like about Moore is his tendency to ambush cops, clerks and middle management. These are people who have no more decision making power than you do and are just trying to get through their day when tubby rolls up with his camera crew.

a guy in my class said today he never wants to set foot in the states, ever. Which I thought was slightly radical.
After watching the film with me and the rest of my english class (i live in germany) he went to a bookstore, saw the book, bought it and read it in a day. He is convinced America is the root of all evil.

Yeah I agree with Michael Moore on this one. I am a Brit and totally anti guns. They're trying to introduce guns into the police force over here which I think is a grave mistake because the police are in my views cowards and will just blow away anything that vaguely resembles a threat to protect themselves. We already have armed response units but they're professionals and know how to take out a threat without actually killing it.
Where I do disagree with Michael Moore's 'Stupid White Men' is the title. Er plenty of coloured people have got guns and as we know and there's more killing amongst coloured people than whites so I'm not too sure about 'stupid white men' I think thats just offensive. Apart from that I'm totally totally against guns its the most stupid thing.
