I am here at work on a new and SHARED computer for a
bit...I cannot figure out how to UNINSTALL MSN
Messenger....

I need to uninstall it from this comp, but I cannot find it
listed within the ADD/REMOVE list of programs....

I know this is a pretty dumb question, but can anyone shed
some light on this for me?

Thanks everyone...( I feel like a REAL idiot for asking this
)

Why do you need to remove it? Can't you just not have it
autostarting?

I need to remove it cause i really dont wanna hear shit from
my " superiors " about having it on here...
I just installed it to talk to my sister for a bit tonight,
but I dont think management would like me putting it on
here...I wanna UNINSTALL it and Ill just wait for some other
KNOB here at my work to RE-INSTALL it tommorow or in a
couple of days...

( i know it sounds dumb huh...=)

You can do it by typing the following at a command prompt
(or the Run box):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

But it might cause side-effects... not sure, never tried it
myself.

Well doing what I suggested won't cause any side-effects
that any other method of uninstalling MSN would cause.

You could always just delete msmsgs.exe from wherever it is.

Or just delete any shortcuts to it so it appears to not be
there.

OK, you are starting to convince me:)

I may try it if there are no other posts or solutions.

( not to put your idea second or anything ) =)

I was just curious as to a way to remove it through
ADD/REMOVE or something similar....

I don't have MSN (or anything that might possibly be it) in
my Add/Remove list (and I do have XP) so I wouldn't
recommend removing that. You might be perfectly ok to remove
it, but I'm not taking responsibility! :D

do you have that same program listed though?....

MSN addin - for windows messenger

its the ONLY one i could find that MAY BE what i am looking
for...LOL...damn I feel dumb, theres gotta be an easier way
to do this...
I appreciate you wasting ANY time helping though=)

I don't have that listed, no. So it's either a non-essential
part of MSN, or a version of MSN that shows up in
Add/Remove... or something else entirely.

Hurrah! well done me.
Though I should probably have mentioned that MSN comes as
part of the normal installation of XP anyway so just leaving
it there was probably ok. Unless someone else removed it
before you got there...
