first, lemme say this:
wheeeeeeee!

about 4 months ago, i got 10 or so Portishead mp3's off the
net, probly kazaa. and imo they were horrible shite. but
about 2 weeks ago, when i asked here for trip hop,
portishead was suggested, so i downloaded Dummy & Pearl. i
didn't even bother listening, for fear of them being as bad
as i remember. but last night i did listen, and
they're so so so so so so good. i ended up burning both of
them before i went to bed. wheee again cuz theyre so good

waitaminute. just looked at a few portishead sites, 'pearl'
isn't a portishead album, is it?

nope, some band called Mandalay. i answered my own question
:O oh well...it's still good

check denali, you might like them, they make pretty much the
same music as portishead, little less electronic in it, but
they have a good singer as well

and get triphop reconsctructed. tell me more about the
mandalay album; i have been considering to buy it. their
track 'beautiful' is just too nostalgic.

Spookyluke tried to convince me that Portishead sound like
Tori Amos (not tre!) but I had seen their performance on SNL
and hated it. That was enough to keep me far away for
a long time.

He made me listen to some of Dummy, and I didnt like it
either. It bored me. :| It sounded like elevator music.

And I hate elevator music...

He still wants me to give Portishead another honest try. :|
Do you think I should?

but I think I like their live performance the most
